Switching between templates?

I am using the "horizontal" template that came with pixelpost. It's nice for the most part but I like a few features of the "simple" template as well, such as the comment box. Ideally, I'd like to integrate the two, but I'm not quite sure how to do that without screwing things up. Any advice? Also, I have modified the html of the "horizontal" template just a bit, and I'm wondering if I switch to the "simple" template, will I lose all of that customized code?

The two templates are different. If you would switch from one to another you will gain the features in the new template and lose the features of the old template.

I understand this, but if I switch back to my original template, will it revert to the original pixelpost code, therefore losing my customizations?

no, customizations are stored in the template files. As long as you don't change those you'll be alright.
