Addon: latest thumb on other pages - clean HTML no PHP

MT or blogger.com (or similar) users should benefit from this. clean HTML code will show the latest thumb of your photoblog on other pages of the web!

I made this for those people who had problems with using the Wordpress plugin to show the latest addon or the modification I made before. Since some people do not have wordpress !! and some don't like php coding!! :wink:

However, this addon lacks in showing a tool-tip (a small popup text shows up when hovering over the thumbnail image) of the latest post title. (But it works perfectly!)
There are some tricky ways to do so but it needs some php coding that I wanted to put aside.
Any suggestion is appreciated.

1) copy the addon to addons folder of Pixelpost

but I don't know how exactly do that. I can produce the <img> links but is there something in HTML codes that could extract some string from a URL and put it inside it's HTML? some tag?

in this addon you reach the content of image with <img src=' .... ' > tag where the src atribute points to a php file but I don't know how to point browser to a php file with out using <img> tage and src attribute. ....
I'm kind of self studied person in HTML and I don't know many things:)

I don't see the Addon in my list of addons in Pixelpost. I had the same problem, you may remember, with the WP plugin in my list of WP Plugins.

I've checked the file, and there does not seem to be anything wrong with it -- no blanks before or after the PHP -- so I just do not understand the problem.

I download to a Mac, and then upload via FTP, without opening the PHP file.

Any advice?

It seems to have been a problem with permissions. I set the permissions to 777 and now the addon shows up. My question is, what should the permissions be for security and use? I know nothing about this area.

Ah, now, that looks to me like a JPEG file in the raw. In other words, the browser is not recognizing it as an image file and is treating it as an ordinary (HTML) file.

It could be a language encoding issue, but I don't know enough about that.

yes but what is the purpose of doing so? you photoblog is doing that very well.

to do this change the line reads

Hiya! I've been using this addon for a bit on my site SSDWorks (http://www.ssdworks.com). It's a Mambo site, so I had to use a Module that directed to the thumbnail url to integrate it properly. This addon was a miracle for me. Made it all much easier. However, I've noticed that in the past two days, the thumbnails haven't been showing up. And I'm at a loss as to why, since it was working perfectly previously. I know the thumbnails show up on my main Pixelpost site, though. You can see them in the archive here (http://photos.ssdworks.com/?x=browse&pagenum=1). The url I've been using to direct to the thumbnail is "http://photos.ssdworks.com/index.php?showthumb=latest&thumbtag=image" cause that's basically what the instructions for the addon said. Do you have any idea why the images suddenly aren't showing up? I know it's not a permission problem, since everything that could possibly affect it is at 777.

Raminia: I added some code so the headers would not be sent. I was hoping that by seeing the raw output it was possible to see the error. But I think the error is being suppressed.

Samantha: Ok, time to try something else. In index.php of your pixelpost site, change the line (it's near the top)

then try the link again.

Now, how do I go about fixing them? I've also returned the error_reporting back to (0) cause it was really ugly. And while the Latest Thumb might not show up on my main page, at least the photo site looks somewhat okay.... :(

Again, though, the Latest thumb did used to work and I haven't made any changes to the photo site, so I'm not sure what stopped it. Do you think any of these errors could be the problem? It looks kind of intimidating to me to try to fix anything.... PLEASE tell me that some of this can be ignored!

You know, I just checked my page and the latest thumb is working again.... So I figure I'll ignore error and just hope it doesn't happen again. Knowing my luck, I'll make things worse trying to fix the errors....

Raminia: I added some code so the headers would not be sent. I was hoping that by seeing the raw output it was possible to see the error. But I think the error is being suppressed.

Samantha: Ok, time to try something else. In index.php of your pixelpost site, change the line (it's near the top)
error_reporting(0);
to
error_reporting(E_ALL);
then try the link again.

just curious, i tried that myself now, i changed the error reporting line in the index.php
- i got uncountable errors!

what about all these messages?

I still have no idea what all those errors were. And I now can't upload any pics. I assume it was probably one of my attempts to fix the problems. Otherwise, the latest thumb started working again, with no input by me, and the site itself still works. The not being able to upload is a real problem though, so I think I'll try a clean install with a different template. Maybe that's where my issues cam in.... don't really know though.

Dont change error_reporting to E_ALL coz you will see notices which really arent errors!!
Leave it as was at oryginal code ( error_reporting(0); )!!

Hi... dont know if anyone is using this anymore but I tried to install it on WP 2.8. Anyone have this working? I read this over but am still not clear if this plugin can be used if my wordpress install is at a totally different url than my pixelpost blog. There is the section for a relative address and I tried both public_html/pixelpostblog/ and also a full url but nothing appears. Thanks for any insight into this.
