I've added russian translation as well - You can download it here.
It would be nice if you'd include it in translation folder as well - so everyone would have it :)

I'll check it and add it into the next version release. (version higher than 1.4.1)

There's a good thing to add to the language file - is encoding - i noticed theres ???????? ?? instead of words..
So for russian you'd have to use windows-1251

privet!

we have to decide how to continue with the encoding of the language files as we need UTF-information

vie ghets!
:D
what do you mean by UTF-8?
I dont think cyrrilic supports utf..
We could add just a line like
russian-language.php

<?
$charset="windows-1251"
.....
....
?>

index.php
and than in template you'd go something like

<?php
...
...
<META NAME="Content-Type" CONTENT="text/HTML;CHARSET=windows-1251">

well, the characters should be entered into the language-file by an editor who can save it in UTF-format

that would enable us to integrate all characters
the templates and the output of the program is all in UTF code, so the language files should fit smoothly into it

it is not realised in the moment, it is an open point

but: cyrillic characters can be set in UTF because UTF is made for *all* characters...
but the files must be stored in that format and the header in the template must set the codepage to UTF-8

as I said, it is not finished already...

Hmmm.. Maybe I'm stupid.. How (and what? which files) do you save into UTF-8?

Thanks for russian lang file. It would be useful for many ppl from eastern Europe and quite big part of Asia.
Isn't KOI-8 more popular then win1251??

GeoS,

we should absolutely not code something in other codepage than UTF-8

especially with cyrillic, experts are struggling which codepage is the most used, you never know and as the language file must be included into UTF-8-output, it should be in UTF-8 as well

in the moment, we had that problem with the iranian language file as well, and we must think about how to do that, as long as we expect only "pure text" we already have problems, windows text is not "pure text" etc. ....

this is not a finished feature until now, we must work on it: to guarantee that all language-files are pure UTF-8 (and the users must make sure that the templates are with UTF-8 as well). If not we will get a babylonian mixture of strange characters...

sorry but it's not iranian language, it's Persian language :wink:

@Connie: I know that all PP files must be in UTF. Only this can guarantee complex and good support of all languages by one (the same for all) engine.

My question about russian encoding appear from that I made a long time ago one site in russian and it was coded in KOI-8.

:) they dont use KOI anymore )) oly linuxoids use it :)

I have requests though..
1st is add more text to the lang. file.. - so i can translate it..
2nd is could you please make something, so on the 1st page I could have 2 languages - and user can select between them..
it would be amazing if comment had 2 inputs (1 for each language) so page in their selected language would apear with comments on that language

Cheers
Andrew

Andrew,

these whishes (doing everything double) will need to write the whole script at many many points anew

you could run two blogs parallel (using different table-prefixes) and link to each of them
