Blank index page and thumbnails not generating

I've installed everything and it went very smoothly. But when I tried to upload an image, the image is uploaded into the /images directory but no thumbnail is generated and the index.php loads a blank page. Could my host's PHP and MySQL version be the cause? Any ideas?

Your GD-lib does not have JPG-Support.... as it would tell you that if you did... you need JPG support to create thumbs.

Simple ask your hoster to sort this out for you so that you have JPG-support.

And yes... you also need to update php and mySQL. Your hoster should do this all for you! just ask.
