hey guys... i hate attaching stuff but i'm away from home and my server is down so i can't even post my pictures! :S sucks hehe. so i hope you don't mind if i attach a few...

i've been working with the sun head on... and i must admit it's tough. i'm going for the "shadows in the sun" feel. i'm not an experienced photographer and am learning as i go.

so here they are... tell me what you think! please be honest, i can take it! :P

edit: basically there are like 3 sets of pictures that look alike, the one on the beach, the one with the man, and the one with the woman... which one in each set do you guys prefer and why?

Hi sinstone :)

I havn't got time to give response on all of your pctures, but I'll comment the one which caught my eye...

http://pages.globetrotter.net/sinstone/images/DSCF0009-2.jpg

Somehow I think you should have tried to get either the man in focus and not that dark or the sun even more blowed out and with that, the whole picture a bit brighter...

The framing is OK, but i think you should concentrate on the land & water or the water & sky... To me it seems like you've tried to get all in the same pic and it tips over... (IMHO)

You should give the color curves in PS (if you've got that) a shot... Think you could have brought out a bit more from this picture with that :)

Nice picture no matter what! Keep on shooting pics, and I'm shure the "learn while walking" will work out ;)

yay a reply ;) thanks dude!

about the focus... my camera doesn't let me do much or even any manual. i can change the focus by holding the shutter button but i changes virtually nothing. i wish i had a nice canon to work with... :S

i must admit that i may have been trying to get everything in... i tend to do that alot.

thanks for the very constructive criticism, i'll check the color curves when i get back home (i don't have ps @ my parents' place).

ciao! any other thoughts?

Not anything in particular... But it would be great if you would like to check out some of mine :) BTW: Are you a young photographer? Or have you just got into the game?

i'd go back at a different time of day, experiement with different lighting, early morning might bring the water a well rounded warm gleem and cast detail on the industrial background

shooting into the sun is a difficult thing to master, you have to deal with flare, reflection, harsh shadows and so on...
