I downloaded the pepper template, and really liked it...only problem was that it wouldnt fit images over 600px. I changed the template around to modify images up to 800px. (I only had to change some css, and expand the images that made the outside). For images before that were less than 800px, they now have a black border. Think it was an ok modification?

well, for use friendly reasons, I still think its best to adhere to a 800x600 safe resolution on our end (default templates in download ect), and has more use for the downloadable templates if it follows the same rule of thumb, unless designed around a 1024x768 safe res and is clearly noted for users who understand...
idealy, template designs should scale to the size of the photo, we're working on that for future default templates...and I would like to push other designers to do the same, and if its a fixed image size, state which size the template is designed for.

yes, Ive always kept my photos under 800px till now...but I couldnt use the old layout with 600 because I have some photos that are 700. The last layout I had I used expandable tables (as much as I hate them), and it worked. I could use images and everything else in the setting (header, footer, ect) would adjust to it. I couldnt make that happen with this layout though, so I just make it 800 so I could fit the other 100 or so images without screwing up the layout.

Fellow E.,
your website is missing the starting <HTML>-Tag so your site does not validate..
<IMAGE_PREVIOUS> is wrong, <IMAGE_PREVIOUS_LINK> or <IMAGE_PREVIOUS_ID> are the correct tags
same with <IMAGE_NEXT>, <IMAGE_NEXT_ID> and <IMAGE_NEXT_TITLE> are the correct ones
because of the missing <HTML> the validation of the CSS does not work...
go on!
