View Full Version : Help with translations!

A few items of text are output by the script.
Those items are controlled/editable via a language file.

If anyone would like to help and translate this file into their own language it would be much appreciated! It would be really nice to include a couple of languages with the default install.
It is very simple and fast to translate it, should not take many minutes for any of you.

Download lang-english.php.zip (http://www.pixelpunk.se/software/service/lang-english.php.zip)

Please send the file back to me at punk [at]*pixelpunk.se
Already done
English (default)
Swedish
German
I would like to see at least the major languages included such as french, german, dutch, spanish but not to forget all other countries and languages. Europe is full of them as is Asia, no matter how big/small a language is it counts! Perhaps Klingon?I would appreciate it!

A little off-topic, but I've to reply to a so kind welcome.
My template is WIP, focused on category navigation: click on image brings to thumbs in its category.
Once ready, I'll release a more generic version for the community.
My code is so dirty now!

there is an error in the german language file.

aperture must be "blende", and exposure "verschlusszeit".
it's currently the other way, that's wrong.

just wanted to mention it.

Netwalker,

If you still see english month names, I am sure you did not update the calendar-addon?

Netwalker,

If you still see english month names, I am sure you did not update the calendar-addon?

Connie:

The date I mean that it's still showing in english is the one you show with the tag <IMAGE_DATETIME>. I use it in the image_template.html file.

I changed to pixelpost-light template, and also appears in english.

Also appears in english in the comments.

Thanks. :D

Netwalker,

i was away for a week.
You are right. The translations in the language file, days and months, are for the calendar-addon, not for the other dates

I have almost completed translation to Turkish with one problem. Special Turkish characters in Language file does not show up correctly. I have tried every possible way with no help (obviously I must be missing something).

Any suggestion for help?

Connie

Metin,

that is the same problem as Ramin had with Farsi

the translation file is in text format and not in unicode format so it is difficult to show these special characters

your mail reminds me that this is a topic which should be solved in the future, in one of the next releases

In the moment, I have no solution

Thank you for your reply Connie,

I will use with English text and will wait for the fix of this issue. Then, I can transfer the file for others to use.

raminia

you can use a unicode editor like unipad or ultraedit and do the translation without no problem. but if you use ultraedit you should turn off something in the option which adds some extra characters to the php file that is not good for anyone, even PHP it self;)

If you have Ultraedit tell me and I let you know where is the option. UniPad editor do it clear.

(I've translated Persian (Farsi) without problem.)

(this is a PHP 4 problem not PP's

@acanay: belive me or not but there are many nice examples of funny translations. Adobe made quite funny "mistakes" with polish Acrobat Proffesional 7 and they are not the first and the last example :P
