getting informed about new picture posted?

hello,

i'm a happy pixelpost user, but i am sick of having hundrets of favorites and checking them day by day just to see they didn't update.

i'd really appreciate an add-on that works like a newsletter, people supply their e-mail adresses and the script automatically sends an e-mail when a new picture on the blog you subscribed to has been posted.

now, i am unfortunatelly a really bad coder, but maybe some of you could realize the add-on?

i guess it is quite simple to code,
when the data-injection of the new post into the database is finished, all the script has to do is to detach an email to certain adresses stored in the database.

to subscribe, all we need is a form that can be posted into the sourcecode, and for the installation, all that has to be created is a new table where the adresses can be stored.

and maybe, something to unsubscribe from the list.

well, as i said before i am the w0rst coder on this earth, i hope it is really something simple, and i'm not talking great bullsh*t.


what do you think about the idea?
would that be possible to do?

now please don't get me wrong, it was meant like this:

i miss a function on a pixelblog-photolog where MY visitors can subscribe to and get an email when I update the blog.


so i hope my favorite blogs implement this and i can feel haaaappy! :D

You can use the RSS feed feature that Pixelpost already has.

I use SharpReader to see changes for 50+ blogs and news sites.

I having using it for a little time, but I love it and I prefer it over receiving mails.

I use FeedReader to check many photoblog and weblogs every day.

use RSS or atom feeds.

for pixelpost it will have the address like
index.php?x=rss OR
index.php?x=atom

thats exactly why there are Feeds!

Tell your visitors to subscribe to your RSS-feeds! With firefox it's absolutely easy again!

Or bookmark in Opera or Firefox in a bookmark-folder and open all bookmarks in that folder with one click.. you will get all your beloved blogs at one click at hand!

I cannot image that my visitors will be happy to get mail everyday that there is a new posting at www.photografitti.de, for sure those who want to know will reed the feed

I have one more idea, many others blogs have an option called "ping to...", that function makes that when u post something the blog pings another web where it's published that u updates your blog.

Can someone make a ping plugin for pixelpost? :D

I've already made this but it is for the next release of pixelpost and does not work with the 1.4.1 or 1.4.2

I'm using it on my photoblog right now. it is for testing. (I'm running the latest development version of pixelpost not the exact 1.4.x )

be patient untill the next release or contact me if you wanna this unstable underdevelope version;)
