yes i did. before then, i couldn't upload any images. but i have fixed the problem i was having. for some reason, the files in the images folder did not inherit the folder permissions. i had to chmod 777 for all the individual images.
thanks all the same.

the thumbnails don't exist
I checked:
http://photo.zug-zwang.net/images/20050707190336_flash.jpg <= exists
http://photo.zug-zwang.net/thumbnails/thumb_20050707190336_flash.jpg <= does not exist
so how
Well when I press on "generate thumbnails" everything seems fine, but then when I look in the thumbnail directory it is empty!

Ox,
please check with your FTP, where the generated thumbnails are stored
they must be somewhere ;=)
check for files which have "thumb_2005..." as first part of filename...
I checked all the folders in my pixelpost home ... no thumbnails at all.

Ox,
did you check the write permission for the images and thumbnails folders? they should be 777. also check the permission for the images in your images folder (in my case, for some wierd reason, the images in my folder did not inherit the permission for the folder). after i chmod 777 all the images, i regenerated thumbnails, and voila, all became right! :D
The image and thumbnail folder are set to 777 and the images rights are 644.
Connie

I think it is something because of the subdomain
what is the "real URL" of that photoblog? In which directory did you install it, below www.zug-zwang.net?
photo.zug-zwang.net is the same as http://www.zug-zwang.net/foto/index.php
I had a look at the apache error log but there was nothing to be found. The image permissions are set to 644 the folder 777, the thumbnail folder is also 777 but there are no thumbnails at all ... I have no clue what else could cause the problem?
hmm im getting a similar issue now as well. im using v1.3 and i am not getting thumbnails created...
thumbnails dir is checked and is at 777 and there are files in there but no new ones
ill be following this thread.

again the question: can you upload images using the addon "Copy-folder" and are the thumbnails generated by copy-folder?
I tried the "copy-folder" addon and it worked, I am able to post pictures to the blog with that addon. Afterwards I pressed the re-generate thumbnail button but I am still not able to see the thumbnails.

Ah, I've been there already...
I checked for the existence of the thumbnails, for example /thumbnails/thumb_20050721191900_dsc_0140.jpg
I do not see why that should not be found, but I must admit that it is not existing
try to check the permissions again:
permission for folder: 777
permission for files in that folder <= ?????
maybe that's the reason.
folders: 777
images: 644
thumbnail folder is empty
Connie
07-21-2005, 09:00 PM
folders: 777
images: 644
thumbnail folder is empty
that's, it the images must be "777" as well! With "644" the script cannot write files to that directory
change that with your FTP-program and you will have the most wonderful thumbnails ever! (just re-generate them!)
ooohhh, wait I think the prob its qouta related, going to sort it out.

I had the same problems with thumbnails using PixelPost 1.4.1, and just figured out the problem.
My initial problem was that PHP was not compiled with GD support. Recompiled both PHP and MOD_PHP for Apache. Fixed that, but thumbnails still weren't working.
Finally, I tried restarting Apache, and everything is working fine now. This is Apache2 on Gentoo Linux.

i tried the copy folder thing and no thumbnails shows even after i regenerate it.

Warning: unlink(../thumbnails/thumb_fireworks.jpg): No such file or directory in /home/bites/public_html/fotolog/admin/index.php on line 715
Could not delete thumbnail. You have to do that some other way, with your ftp software perhaps.

mclean, I changed all the permissions on my files in the thumbnail and image folders to 777, and I still get the same error your getting. I had to change each file alone. It is tedious, and still nothing is operating properly. :(

Just thought I'd add my own story to the thumbnail saga. I'm a new PixelPost user, and this is EXACTLY what I've been looking for. However, I can't make the thumbnails work. Here's what happens:
1. When I upload a pic, I get this message:
Warning: imagejpeg(): Unable to open 'http://halehouse.net/photos/thumbnails/thumb_20050728083537_lowdoor.jpg' for writing in /home/halehous/public_html/photos/includes/functions.php on line 92
Warning: chmod(): No such file or directory in /home/halehous/public_html/photos/includes/functions.php on line 94
My permissions for "images" and "thumbnails" are both 777. But the image didn't inherit the permissions, so I went to the FTP and changed it to 777.
2. No thumbnails. So I go to Options, Thumbnails, and click Re-generate thumbnails. Here's the message I get:
Warning: imagejpeg(): Unable to open 'http://halehouse.net/photos/thumbnails/thumb_20050728083537_lowdoor.jpg' for writing in /home/halehous/public_html/photos/includes/functions.php on line 92
Warning: chmod(): No such file or directory in /home/halehous/public_html/photos/includes/functions.php on line 94
Under "Thumbnails updated," it says, "1 thumbnail updated."
3. Here's the info from the General Info page:
PHP-version 4.3.10 (Pixelpost's min requirement: PHP version 4.3.0)
MySQL version 4.0.22-standard (Pixelpost's min requirement: MySQL 3.23.58)
GD-lib bundled (2.0.28 compatible) with JPEG support
Server software Apache/1.3.33 (Unix) mod_auth_passthrough/1.8 mod_log_bytes/1.2 mod_bwlimited/1.4 PHP/4.3.10 FrontPage/5.0.2.2635 mod_ssl/2.8.22 OpenSSL/0.9.7a
EXIF Pixelpost is using exifer v1.5 for EXIF information.

Thumbnails Directory: OK - Can we write to the directory? YES.
Language Directory: OK

Includes Directory: OK
Templates Directory: OK
4. On FTP, there's nothing in the thumbnails folder.
Am I missing something? It's nice that I can post pics, but I would like to have the thumbnails too.
Here's my site: http://halehouse.net/photos
Thanks!

Ok, not getting any error messages now. (I removed the previous install, then reinstalled on a different site.) Not sure what I did differently, except that this time I deleted the install.php file after installing. Maybe that did it?
At any rate, I don't get error messages when uploading or re-generating thumbnails, BUT I don't see the thumbnails on the page. Are they supposed to show up on each page, or just the Browse section?
Thanks!
Connie

the thumbnails are shown where the thumbnail tag is placed: in the image_template.html
the thumbnails are shown in the browse-page
the thumbnails are shown by some AddOns
there are image-related-thumbnail-tags and there are thumbnail-related-thumbnail-tags
sometimes I am absolutely not sure what is behind this "thumbnails don't show", does this mean that thumbnails are not created at all in the thumbnail-folder or is the question that the thumbnails are not visible in any of the templates?????????
so:
- check whether the thumbnails are created or not
- read the documentation, there is a doc called "pixelpost-tags.txt"
- read this!!!!! (I am sometimes quite unsure why we do this work and write these lists etc. and nobody reads the docs at all)
- look into the templates which you use
- look there for any of the thumbnails-tags
and then you will know
