Help modifying template

Hi! I'm a recent user of pixelpost and I'm trying to modify the template. I'm using the Freenik template and I can modify the comment template from my cpanel, but every change I make in the browse template seems not to work. Is it because I have to do the changes with another program instead of my cpanel? Maybe with WordPad and uploading with ftp or something, I don't know.

i use wordpad/notepad or dreamweaver depending on the extent of the changes needed to be made.
