Hi all,

I recently got things (pixelpost, that is) up and running. I'm now in the middle of a trip to Venezuela and can't seem to log in to the admin. I've been in to my database to check that I had it right. I've tried to auto-reset it using the web admin, the new password didn't work. I've tried to manually change it, the new one doesn't work. I've tried changing the settings on the machine I'm using here to ensure that it's not a cookie setting issue... nada. Other than a total reinstall of pixelpost, which I'd REALLY rather not do... I'm stumped.

If anyone has any ideas, they would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance.

btw - for the forum folks... is there a forum search here? I can't seem to find one and I always like to search a forum for an answer before posting so as to not post a question that's been answered in the past.

- search is at the top
http://www.pixelpost.org/forum/search.php

- if you cannot login from a remote machine check the cookies. they must be enabled.
- if you used password recovery then it has changed your password! If you did not received the new password then manually reset password from cpanel. search the from for "lost password"
- there was a recently discovered bug in password recovery that if the db does not act properly the password was changed but without notice. If you tried password recovery with no result that may be the cause.

Understood. When I look at the database I can watch thepassword change when I use password recovery. I copy/paste the newpassword and get the same log in error. I can also manually change it in the bd and get the same result. Nothing seems to be working. :(

I'll keep trying.

Thanks for the reply!!

Check the default codepage of the computer where you are sitting now:

it should be "automatic codesetting" or "utf-8"

I am not sure how this option is called in InternetExplorer (if you use this browse)

may be the browser defaults override the codesetting of the pages... and the code is entered wrong

I set it to utf-8 and it's still not working.

Thanks for the idea!!

what is strange is that this has occured during your trip (so i assume this is part of the reason).

Other than cookies I can't see any reason for the blog to not work when you access it from abroad. It would be interesting to see if this problem is fixed when you get back to your home computer.

Other than that I'm stumped for a reason. Sorry!!

-art,

what kind of computer are you on? In an internet café?
Some restrictions?

I ask that because I updated remotely quite often and there was no problem at all :(

OK, well... at least I know it´s not me being an idiot. At least not this time. The machine I´m using is my brother-in-law´s band new laptop. It's actully nicer than mine at home. :(

I guess I'll just have to let it sit till I get home. I'll let you all know what happens when I get back.

Thanks VERY much for your help!
