I've just finished writing an addon that adds the ability to search your site using google, and show the results in a template format.
The addon is available here: http://www.pixelpost.org/v1/index.php?x=downloads&details=93
You can try out the addon on my site. The search field is at the bottom of the page. Try searching for "Sydney" or "Bridge".
Have fun

very cool...
but still to this day i am confused as to how a viewer gets anything from the search, unless they know the exact keyword to look for

8) I made it more for the challenge more than any other reason. I wasn't even sure I'd keep it on my site, but it looks way to cool to remove now.
If people like it, cool. If not, don't use it.

Has anyone been able to get this addon working? I have tried but I cannot figure out what is wrong. I sent a message to the addon creator but have not heard back yet, so I thought I would give the forums a try. Here is the message I sent:
"I followed all of the step outlined in the ReadMe and I keep getting the following errors.
When I try to Update the key at the Addons Admin page:
"Not Found
The requested URL /index.php was not found on this server.
Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request."
When I try to do a search on my site (http://timorous.dreamhosters.com/pixelpost):
"Did you mean SOAP-ENV:Server: Exception from service object: Invalid authorization key: ?
SOAP-ENV:Server: Exception from service object: Invalid authorization key:"
Can you tell from this if I have done something wrong?
Also, am I supposed to add the key to the google_addon.php document? If so, I could not find a place to add it."
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

hmm ... and if site have no indexing ... 'Simply Search' on a site without 'Google' can be made? e.g use word from comment or word from title of the image:confused: For example, if I wish to find all photos with word 'Malta' in title of a photo... or I wish to find all photos with word 'Thailand' in comment of a photo

You need some form of search outside of Google for that, have a look on hotscripts.com there's quite a few search scripts that are meant purely to search what's on your site as opposed to what you have spidered in Google.

I am looking for an add-on where I can search the title and description of an entry and display the results on a page.
Does this add-on work anymore? I have yet to see a working example and Riken's search function unfortunately does not appear to work on Riken's site.
Thank you in advance!

did anyone ever resolve this? I am having the same problem and can't seem to get past it!
I added the files as instructed to, and when i try to enter my Google API Key on the Addons page, it results in:
"Not Found
The requested URL /index.php was not found on this server.
Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request."
So frustrating. Everything else on the blog is finally working flawlessly... just want to get this going.

No one? Damn. :(
In that case, does anyone else have a blog-only search tool that works?

Did anyone manage to find a solution to the Google Maps error? I am also getting error when trying add my Google API key via the Admin > Addon's page (index.php?x=googlekey):
Not Found
The requested URL /index.php was not found on this server.
Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use
an ErrorDocument to handle the request.
I'm running PP 1.6.0 in a sub-directory 'pixelpost' but other than that fairly standard installation. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers, Dan

I never heard back on this, Londan. I was actually checking in tonight and I see only more people with the same problem.
Have you find any other way of making pixelpost searchable? I really want to get this kind of addon working. :(
