I much prefer the portrait, the closeness of the sunflower also personifise (sp?) it - colours are really nice as well.

Landscape is nice as well, but much busier! :)

Like Babyben, I think the portrait is quite something, while the landscape is nothing special.

On the portrait, I was impressed by the backlighting and the good use of depth of field. And by a coincidence. I was out this Saturday taking backlit pictures of sunflowers near Lago Bolseno. But I was using analog film, so have not yet seen the results!.

Good work.

not trying to be contrarian but i like the landscape more. i like the feeling of vastness that it captures. both are great pics though.

thank you all :) I didn't retouch the photos, except for a tiny unsharp mask, default of the raw program, and one dust spot I had to remove digitally
( and now phisically, opening the machine and pulling it away in some manner! sigh )

personally, i think if your landscape picture was taken a bit lower, it would be perfect. while it's closer, it still catches the whole field, yet it gives it the personality that the portrait has.

slightly les harsh lighting would have added a lot, its still cool though, i never get to see fields of flowers arranged like that
