Is this possible? If so could anyone help me do it? I don't care who is visiting my site. I can check the server stats if I want to know. I'm thinking if I just got rid of the whole referrer part of the Pixelpost script spammers would have no reason to hit my site. Is this thinking correct?

My site was shutdown today because it went over the allowable bandwidth. I can up the bandwidth but that isn't addressing the problem. I've installed the various anti-spam addons including bad behaviour. I just want to get rid of the reason spammers are coming to the site.......and that's because of the referrer script isn't it. I don't want to spend hours deleting them (or adding them to the banned list) from the referrer database using the anti-spam addon.

Next step is going to be abandoning Pixelpost or stopping the photoblog altogether......and that will make me very sad.

Birdie,

we are having a poll here about this topic
and we are collecting opinions on that

so please vote here: http://pixelpost.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1741

I think the next release will either completely stop the referer-list or offer an option whether to activate it at all or not

but there will always be a problem: once an URL is in the spammers list, they will come back, even if there is nothing for them ..

and please, believe me, we are all very unhappy about that, we did not invent it, and as always with this shit, we can just try to defend ourselves, we cannot stop idioty...

a very rigorous action would be to move the PixelPost installation to another folder...

If you change directories, and then add a link so your "real" visitors can find it again, won't the spammers just follow the link? What about a redirect?
