select an other category when using Copy_folder

hi,

i've been using the copy_folder.php addons to upload multiple files.

however, it defaults all images to the "Default" category.

Can I select the category when using copy_folder?

Or does anyone knows a way to rapidly change the chategory of several images at once?

its one by one for right now...might go quicker id you just went into the database and knew the ID numbers for all the images though....donno

the thing is, a misconception that everyone takes only a photoblog is that its not really designed to be a gallery like application, its a diary of photographs, which is more common to be used for one image at a time, especially for those who are more hardcore photobloggers and put a lot of time into editing and refining their images and text to go with them. Its hard for us to support the masses when so many others want pixelpost to be more than it is intended to be.

we need this in the next version. when you add a new category that you forgot to create first you have to change category of serveral images. Plus, when you are uploading photos of a trip or so you want at least one same category for all.

it is not in contradiction with what PP is inteded to be.

I think CopyFolder is an AddOn, a core basic AddOn, and it can have some more features, why not

some ideas:
- category of the images to upload
- standard title of these images (not filename)
- start publishing date (all other images will be one day after another)

in the addon, but these features in the applications itself just do not fit in at all, not in a "simple" little application as pixelpost is supposed to be.

yes, for sure, but CopyFolder is an AddOn, just a standard AddOn which we put into the package...
but maybe it could be an additional Addon with extended functionality and the user can choose which AddOn he wants to use
with the Switch on/off of AddOns that could be handled very fast

it's a basic feature to upload multiple files and you need to control on your posts. it's not more complicated than new_image.php page.

We can make it like this:
1) in options make possibilty to check default set of categories which would be marked in new image section.
2) Copy folder AddOn can use this parameter :D

PS As Raminia wrote we need an "machine" for mass changing categories.
I.e. Now I got 2 cameras and added in last few days categories for both. I was tagging 111 photos one by one (thanks that FireFox have got panels) :D

- copy folder is revised for 1.5. it will include the category selection of a mass of photos when uploading from a folder.
- mass edit of categories.... cool.... I like it.

Maybe at weekend Ill try to write some addon to do this (mass editing).
