I have like almost 500 hits on my counter today (normally around 80 per day), is that real? How can I check if it is real or somekind of spam>

Lots of people dont allow to set up cookies thats why the numer can be so big. Other thing are ROBOTs (search engine programs which collects links) they also can make a lot of hits.

Maybe you count every click through your site - view of 10 photos then is equal to 10 visitors, 20 to 20, 35 to 35, etc.??

I dont have. My counter is stoped after PP upgrade and with old tag (I dont have time to change to the new one).

I was using the advanced stat actually. Now I deleted that add on and use the normal counter, it's the same. I also upload again the number of visitor today addon, it's still the same.

Does this addon affects <STATS_VISITORS_TODAY> tag? Cause this is not working well too.

This is the instruction in admin page, there is nothing much to do other than change the tag to have <ADVNCD_SITE_VISITORNUMBER> :

Advanced stats (advanced_stat.php - version 1.0)
This adddon manages the pixelpost stats and works in coherence with visitors table.
New tag: <ADVNCD_SITE_VISITORNUMBER> instead of <SITE_VISITORNUMBER>

Summerize records of currnt month untill today into the stats table?
Number of all visitors: 10956 -- Number visitors this month: 0

No it does not seem to work fine, I put another counter, and it shows much less traffic. I am not sure what to do.

And today, the counter = 0, even though there are visitors, I checked that from another counter on the same page. I think I may just delete the tags ;(

If you are interested in stats (unique visitors, page views, referrers, etc) you should look into Mint ($30 stats package :: http://www.haveamint.com). It is an awesome stats package with an open API for people to build custom modules (peppers : pepper + mint :) )for it. JLencioni built a sweet little pepper for pixelpost comments (http://www.shiftingpixel.com/peppers/).

You can also set a cookie in your computer to ignore your visits to your own blog and have only the real outside visitors be counted.

Totally worth the $30.
