Hi Pixelpost-Developer,

this seems to be a never ending story.

If I link from any page of my Homepage (located at german 1und1) to my photoblog (located at eleven2) the link shows not the photoblog but the page with the link again!
So I contacted eleven2. Rodney Giles tried his best and told me it must have been something to to with my german provider 1und1.

So I contacted 1und1. They told me that:

..."It is technically impossible, that [the fault] belongs to us. A "<a href..." is a normal html-code, which is terminated directly by the browser, our servers technically have nothing to do it anymore.

I assume, that the PHP-Script on the target page or a .htaccess at this place analyzes the visitors origin and a roule under certain circumstances redirects back to the origin address (=the page with the link).

This runs like I mentioned before, on the targetaddress, not at us. "

So I contaced Rodney Giles at eleven2 again.
He wrote:
"This does appear to be a problem with pixelpost itself.
It has a spam referral prevention system which is causing some sort of issue here. "...."But their is nothing here on the servers that would be causing a issue. "...

Here are the Links for testing:

The photoblog can be reached at:

Please help!

Stephan

i suggest going into your addons folder and removing the referer_spam.php

then trying the link...

if 1.4.2 is your first install, you dont really need the addon anyway

hopefully that will work for you, this issue is strange

If you have antyspam addon it probably connected with it.

At dev team section we were wondering about reason I we found that it can be connected with referer check. Maybe in phrases which are banned is one (or more) which suit to referer (or something else) and access is denied. Anyway bumping user back is a little strange.

Which addons do you have installed?

These are the addons:

Advanced stats (advanced_stat.php - version 1.0)
Pixelpost Calendar (calendar.php - version 1.0.1)
Pixelpost Copy Folder Contents (copy_folder.php - version 0.7)
Pixelpost Current DateTime (current_datetime.php - version 1.1)
Page-By-Page-Archive for category and month (for PP v1.4) (paged_archive.php - version 0.6)

referer_spam.php was not included.
These are the php-files of the folder addons:
advanced_stat.php
calendar.php
copy_folder.php
current_datetime.php
paged_archive.php

I erased anti_spam.php, but it did not help.

@kohli11: it must be some problem with referer check. It only doesnt work from your server (from blinking8s works).

PS It must be a problem at target side.

PS2 You turned off addon but did you turned off .htaccess??

<<PS2 You turned off addon but did you turned off .htaccess??>>

How do I turn off .htaccess ?

There is a .htaccess in my root directory.

Try to rename it to 1.htaccess and test if link works.

.....is emtpty!

But I think we can stop here....I decided to move all my webspace to eleven2. Much better and nicer service (and cheaper :) ).

And this problem is solved.

But again thanks everyone for trying to help!!!

surely some redirecction or dns stuff.

blinking8s

well, if its not the .htaccess, it could be a php function or something with the dns, we should at least figure it out in case it happens again, but i am baffled

That isnt DNS stuff. That must be some strange linkback.

even is this is an "old" thread I might tell you that I had the same situation with other websites also, when "1&1" was involved...

I got the same stupid answer "It's not us!" but they have some strange DNS-habits... I was also always sent back to the "calling website" instead of loading the desired page..

I took the same consequences: I left "1&1", they have big annoying marketing department and produce a lot of flyers, but support is ...
