When you go out to shoot outdoors... what camera or mode will you normally shoot in?

For example, if you're out at a fair. Lot's of people, movement, some fast demonstrations. Sunny day. Might you work with Aperture priority? Shutter Speed Priority? Program Mode? All Manual?

I realize this is an almost impossible question to answer...but as I take more pictures... I'm starting to think about more and more about how I take pics. Program mode isn't enough. I'm trying to comprehend Aperture/Shutter speed priority to the point where I don't have to "think about" which I should use...

I adjust ISO and WB without too much thinking anymore... time to grow some more. Is there an online resource, book or something that goes into this for novice photographers?

Thanks.

its really personal pref for many

i shoot on two modes depending on the situation at hand

i'm a big fan of aperture priority for many situations, but in no way do i let it control my exposures to an automatic degree...i use the command dial on my 20d to adjust the stops i wish to expose for, i find Av better for indoor and steady light situations wth minor shifts that I might miss stopping to expose for in M mode due to the situation i am shooting, such as basketball or baseball or large events with substantial light

but if its harsh lighting, i really need the blue sky, sillouette shots, concerts, long exposures, studio, and solid portraits i stick to manual, meter for what i need to and just leave it at that.

Id say I shoot about 69% Av and 30% manual leaving 1% for the drunken party nights i set it to P cause i have my flash on and am way too inebriated to change settings.

generally aperture priority for most situations. when i have plenty of time full manual - and sometimes if i'm at a party or out with friends then just old auto.
