Post Date from EXIF trouble

I'm really new to php and pixelpost but im getting the hang of it. I was trying to get the 'post date and time taken from EXIF information' mod to work. Whether I modify the index.php in admin/ or download the php.ini mod, I get the same result. When I try to log into ..admin/index.php, instead of seeing the stardard login, I get a blank page.

PHP-version 4.3.9
MySQL version 4.1.12
GD-lib bundled
Server software Apache
EXIF Pixelpost is using exifer v1.5 for EXIF information.

replace the modified files with the originals and start again!
