Halloween Photos

Not really looking for a critique here...more so wondering if anyone else is posting a theme photo for today (10/31)? Here is mine, though it looks better on the blog w/ a full black background. Carved this for my four year old tonight.

Gareth, nice shot. Having your son's head rest on his hands like that creates some nice lines and contrasting curves between him and the jack-o-lantern. I'm going to have to remember that set-up for future portraits.

Thanks. It's also quite effective to use it as the single light-source - you get deep contrast and monotone straight away. The biggest problem was low DOF - I lost about 50% of the shots through the kids moving out of the field of focus. The other problem was that I was using my fastest lens, the Canon 50mm f/1.8 - normally great for portraits, but the field of view was quite tight when I was trying to lean on the table to hold the camera steady!
