whenever i try to upload a photo
i get this message

this is a paths permission as far as i can tell. i don't think you should have problems with your server but this could be a possibility too. to eliminate any possible path problem change your 'configured image path' under options to ../images/

thanks, i'll contact my server people and ask them to allow the permissions on all of those folders do you think that will help?

whoops. sorry. i meant problem not permissions. right now the folders aren't even being seen!

like i said try changing your configured imagepath to ../images/

You can set image path to full path like this:
C:\Domains\brokenbike.org\wwwroot\_public\photo\pi xelpost_1.4.2\
or to relative path:
../images/
