Addon suggestion: Automatic category by EXIF

Hi,
I was wonderin about an addon that makes categories automatically for every camera that is used in a photoblog and assigns that category for the corresponding photos.

raminia, i considered something similar when i set up my photoblog. as you probably know i have quite a few cameras ;)

there are a few issues with this though.

firstly, this would ideally be done at the image upload stage, i haven't fully gone over the code of the administration area, but i'm pretty sure addons aren't executed here. please correct me if i'm wrong.

assuming i'm right, this would require a hack, or would need to be an addon operation which is executed through the addons section in the administration system. like a batch job. i don't like that idea, it ruins the fluidity.

the second problem for me was that i also wanted the photos categorised by the lens used. EXIF doesn't contain that info, only the focal length. which can be logically translated by yourself, but not easily by php - especially if you have overlapping focal lengths in your lens collection!

the solution i came up with was flickr like tags. there's a major tagging craze online right now, and we could take advantage of that.

i might post some ideas in the dev->brainstorming section after i've thought this through. i like the concept of "advertising" your photoblog by the tags/keywords you use to identify the images posted.
i also like the idea of being able to find photoblogs using these tags, through a parent website, perhaps pixelpost.org.
