A PP noob here......

I'm building a photoblog of my life/family. And would like to have the 'posted' date reflect the date/time the pic was actually taken (or a close proximity thereof....the exact isn't always known) rather than the date I'm posting it to the site. A couple things revolving around that....

* It would be nice to have an option to be able to add a year to the available list of years for new image posts w/o having to edit the \admin\index.php file. As time goes on, I imagine I may have some pics that will date back 75 yr (or greater). Being able to add years from within the Admin Panel(??) would be great.

* But the bigger question I have at the moment is the displayed month/year in the 'Monthly Archive'. It *seems* to only be able to display dates back to Decemeber 1969. I say that because I have manually edited the post date on several images to various dates in **1965** (covering 3 different months) and when I open the Monthly Archive dropdown, they all display 'December 1969'. It does display 3 different listings there, so I'm guessing the system is recognizing the differing posting dates, but can't figure out why the dropdown displays them all as December 1969.

Not sure if it makes a diff, but I have the following in my browse_template.html file referring to the monthly archives.....

'<BROWSE_MONTHLY_ARCHIVE_PAGED>'

Anyone know of a way to force this to display the correct month/year??

Thanks!

hi, welcome to Pixelpost!
take a look at this pre-release "teaser" screenshot from version 1.5:
http://www.touchnothing.net/temp/postdatescreen.jpg

that will be available soon, and will allow you to post using the EXIF data of a photograph, which, if you haven't removed the data, includes the data it was taken!

the date drop down only has recent years for convenience, it is "date posted" in truth, not date taken. you can use the EXIF tags to display the date taken.

take a look at some other peoples photoblogs, and you'll see what i mean!

of course, a photo taken in the 70's won't have EXIF.. but i may address this in a future addon/patch :)

That looks very interesting!

Now, if I could just figure out why the Monthly Archive won't seem to display any month/year option earlier than Dec '69.

BTW, I just installed PP yesterday. And thus far, I'd have to say you've produced a pretty darn nice app. Keep up the good work!
