Color or BW?

I am posting a series of photos I recently took while walking through the Manassas National Battlefield in Virginia. I am looking for opinions on
some shots and whether they are better in color or B/W. I originally posted
them in B/W, but I am having 2nd thoughts.

As a general rule I don't prefer one over the other (e.g., some folks only do B&W). However, sometimes one definitely looks better than the other on a particular shot. I have sometimes done black and white to make a photo more interesting, or to compensate for a problem with the colors in the composition.

On this particular shot of the landscape, I have to say that I really prefer the B&W better. I love the tone of the sky. Because it is relatively cloudless, it is less interesting in color. But as a B&W it adds to the starkness of the cold and snow.

Thanks, that's what I thought also (B/W is better in this case).

read this in an article in the new issue of American Photo on Campus a little while ago...

I prefer the bw. I do feel that some adjustments to the levels for contrast and possibly making the sky portion darker would make it stand out and make the eye focus more to the middle portion of the photo. On the color, the sky is so much more intense than the bw.

It's the BW.

In this case color wouldn't add any necessary info, the high saturated blue of the sky is even a little bit disturbing.

But the BW is great, very nice photo.
