Integration reversal (blog into Pixelpost)

Hi all, I'm a newbie. First let me say a very big thanks to the programmers of Pixelpost. It was something that I didn't even realize I needed until I stumbled upon it trying to pick a new CMS for my site!

I might be re-inventing the wheel here but in my (very brief) hunting on the site, I noticed that all of the blog integration seems to be along the lines of Pixelpost integrated into Wordpress, but have not seen anything such as a blog being integrated into Pixelpost.

I decided to throw something together of my own because while I mainly want it to be a photo-oriented site, I do want a place to blog a little (without sacrificing the site design and the ease of logging into a blog vs. coding html). I downloaded a copy of one of the simpler blogware pieces I could find (RCBlog) and have ported the blog to display *posts only* in a Pixelpost site while allowing an admin interface outside of the main site.

Visit http://www.xdreamer.org and click on "Trip 2 Mind" in the main menu if you're interested... currently I am using a slightly modified version of the "Simple" template... but the way I have set the site up, you could easily integrate the blog by creating a couple of HTML files and dropping in the inclusion. I am not really a coder, so if someone maybe wanted to turn this into a real add-on, I'd love to share what I have.

On the other hand, maybe someone has already done this or just doesn't find it useful. :) Everyone seems to be happy integrating into Wordpress, but I wanted Pixelpost to be the foundation of my site, so this seemed to be the way to go.

please don't hit me, but the simplest and fastest way to have it on the go is to use frames, in the one frame the blog, in the other frame PP

injection into a div is kinda just as easy

frames are such a pain in the ass

i'm missing something here. i'm still learning lots about divs - you can inject other pags into them? how? i did a google search with no luck..

well, you can inject php code into a div, and it will render out, injection isnt the best word to use though

Frames, gone that route before with older sites of mine... never again.

Divs might be a solution, but since the templates seem to be stored in HTML files (this might be different for different templates I guess) something to consider is that many hosting services (like the one I am using) do not allow PHP commands to be executed from an HTML file... so if one were to include a php file into the HTML, although it would not show the PHP code to the user, it would not do anything with it either. So there you have an empty page with header and footer.

My method was to create a custom header and footer from one of the other page templates and call them from the main index.php along with the custom blog page I made... the only "messy" part of this was that since the $tpl is what gets string replacement commands, I had to run all of those commands on the header and footer I made (that had to remain seperate from the php file) and then at the very end of the script all three get echoed back to the user (in order of header, php include, and footer).

... so this add-on that's in the works, does it use another blogging script or are you all creating a custom blogging script for it? I'm really interested!
