No problem for upgrade to 1.4.3, no bug. Very happy. Congratulations

Updated from 1.4.3 and in the admin section, there is a msg (using Firefox 1.0.7)

the layer does not exist (cropdiv).
If you are using Netscape, please check the nesting of your tags.

anyone else got this?

Otherwise thanks for the update, it'll be great!

Also: xhtml does not validate, css does, but there's about 20 warnings.

my friend,

first this is not the place for bug reports, there is an extra section for that
second please read the messages there and you will find that this is not a bug at all:

clean the cache of your browser and this message will not appear anymore
it is from the cache not from the actual version

I just upgraded -- everything went well. I'm loving the new features and with the database change loading times have been noticeably better! Thanks!

Hello
I just came across this site from visiting a photoblog I was visiting.
Thought I would check it out. Then I read that a new version was in beta as of January. Just wondering if there is an estimated release date. Can anyone help me on this?

Thanks. Looks like this is a fairly active community.

1.5 RC1 will be released very soon. Most likely early on next week. We're just going over some minor details and packaging. It's been delayed due to security issues found in pixelpost. so 1.5 RC1 will be a major update and improvement for Pixelpost.

Hi there Blinking8s

I do not mean to put pressure; I just wanted to ask whether there has been a delay in the release? If so, will it be more than a week, month etc?

In either case, would you recommend that I install with v1.4 and then upgrade when v1.5 is ready?

Thanks!

apw, if you've waited this long you might as well stick it out. I'm sure they're close enough to releasing 1.5 that waiting a few more days may prevent you from having to do everything twice. If your goal is to get a photo blog up, and you don't mind upgrading in the next few weeks, I would go ahead and install 1.5 beta1. I have been running it without a problem. You may not want to mod it too heavily or add too many extensions until after you upgrade, though.

Cheers. Thanks for the responses. I've no problem waiting although it's nice to know minimum deadlines. Your advice to try out 1.5b without modding too much is a good one.

Does the rc in 1.5rc1 stand for "really close" ?

:D

Like many other people lately, I'm being driven to distraction with spam. If v1.5 really is "any day now" is there anything we can do to help things along? At this point I'd be happy to make a monetary contribution or supply a string of daily pizzas if it would hasten the release.

the CVS checkout system from sourceforge that we use to work on Pixelpost is down, we're crippled at the moment. It totally sucks...

Hopefully it will be repaired for the weekend, and we can get the last few things wrapped up

yup. when we say we are close we really are close - we're literally just waiting for sourceforge cvs to come back online.

I've lost track of the number times Sourceforge has hindered me in some way because of it's CVS being down. Great news that we're so close. I'm getting very tired of this spam I'm getting.

I'm not part of the development team, nor am I spam expert, but I have to assume that there is virtually no spam-proof system in the world. But every little bit will help!

The only one spam proof system is accepting data from users placed on whitelist and treating other as members of blacklist.

The only one spam proof system is accepting data from users placed on whitelist and treating other as members of blacklist.

There are lots of ways to deal with spam - what is difficult or perhaps impossible is a completely automated system that requires no management or input from us blog-maintainers.

Just having a way to require all comments to be moderated and a simple method for bulk approval/denial would help immensely.

In my mind, the trick and the challenge is to make the process of dealing with the inevitable as simple and efficient as possible. I suspect that comes from a combined effort to make submitting bogus comments non-trivial, and then a safety net to keep the ones that get through from bothering our readers.

p.s. My photoblog is officially one year old tomorrow (April 8). Fingers are crossed that I might be able to roll out a new, improved site! Go team!

I STRONGLY suggesting AKISMET for fighting spams! I'm having 0 spams right now on my weblog but I had over 50 daily!

Bummer. The weekend has come and gone and tomorrow I back to class work instead of photoblog work. I still look forward to this release though.

trust me the development team are as frustrated by delays as you are. we're working through them as fast as possible but we don't want to put out something that we know about problems with. we want this to be as good as it can be for now.
