I thought I managed to install pixelpost, however, now I get the message that says, "Coming Soon. Not Installed Yet." What do I do now? What am I doing wrong? Please try to explain this to me so even a person like me who has very little knowledge about this can understand.

i installed it for you mate. i've pmed you with details to login - it was a bad idea leaving it uninstalled like that because it gave anybody access to login there. you can now get into your admin panel with the details i pmed you and post your first image.

I don't know if it is a good idea but if the install is not complete then there must be some feedback to the user about it....

well, i feel that Dylinger1 may have simply failed to miss a vital step of the installation - ie, going to install.php and had simply uploaded all the files, edited pixelpost.php, created the write permissions and the right folders and then left it at that dangerous stage - i didn't want to leave it there where Dylinger1 could have been burdened with having to empty his database if some moron decided to be a jerk and take control of his pixelpost.

Exactly and it is very likely that more people may miss the step... so instead of just "Not installed yet" we can have a more elaborate message - Something like "You are almost done installing please click this link to finish installing the application" and a warning as to what happens to people who do not complete their installs

point taken! i want to really concentrate on usability more and this is a good point. install procedure is going on the to-do list!

it's a fair point.. but it almost encourages damaging behaviour.
if i'm getting 100 visits a day, and re-install, there's a fair chance another visitor will see the link and click it, thus installing it. that'll mean they can pick the username and password ;)

OTOH - If the link was there it would save us this long thread :D

but i'd rather have a thread like this, than a thread which starts "someone has posted an offensive image on my photoblog, and i can't log in, help!"
;)

if the link had been there in the first place then dylinger1 would have followed it straight away.
Lets start from this that every package have docs with installation manual. If someone can use internet it should mean that he can read such manual and understand it. There is only one problem - people are lazy, they event dont want to read short installation manual!!

haha...indeed i think most questions would be asked if the content of the docs folder was read...
then again, i tend to do everything without instructions...so its all good.
