I am getting strange symbols instead of spanish accents with 1.5b1 installed, in the tittle and descriptions of previous entries and also in the Admin section...
I am using Firefox 1.5 and Safari 2.0.2 (Mac)
Here is the working with 1.4.3 functioning normal..
http://photoblog.parella.com/
and here in a backup testing 1.5b1
http://parella.serveftp.net/photoblog/
maybe a bug or maybe I have something wrong, the update process and overall functioning went smooth and with no problems at all...

well,
I see it in your pages
please tell me which encoding is active in the browser when you uploaded the photos
because I checked everything with the code as this is my part because of german umlauts etc. and when I tested everything went well...

Parella,
as I have no Safari, please help me, does "Default" means that the encoding of the actual webpage is taken or that "default" is an option in Safari?

I just asked in the mac forums, and they say the default in safari is UTF-8
(but is something you can also change in the prefs, i just checked mine and are in UTF-8 in one computer and Western ISO latin 1 in another) I dont remember in wich one of those I made the uploads originally... I might have uploaded some in one and some in the other ;)

well, the best would be to set it to UTF-8 for sure
I tested it now with all possible characters and in my installation of 1.5B it was ok..
tell us please, if that problem arises when you upload with UTF-8 encoding ..

If I upload a new picture or edit a previous one (with safari with prefs in UTF-8) and 1.5beta 1...) its OK. I have tested it twice making sure that my prefs for the default in safari is UTF-8, it works nice!
The problem comes with all the previous posts (uploaded with safari, some with UTF-8, some not... in 1.4.3), maybe I will have to edit all those entries wich have text with accents...¿?

I had the same problem when my browser was set to wrong encoding as well
..
I edited the text manually, yes, it is not comfortable, but I know no other way
but anyway, I am glad it is working now for you and I whish you a happy new year with many good photos!
