I'm waiting for the 17" model. Hopefully that one will have all the bugs worked out of it. That will give me time to save up. I'm officially saving... "Now." ;)

i'll probably wait for intel to be inside some ibooks - i think there's a 13 inch model intel ibook coming out some time soon.

I wonder if they'll keep the "iBook" name or just call it a "macBook" sans the "Pro"? They sound impressive. Can't wait till the apple store has floor models!

Man, that 17" is HUGE...no way i would want to lug around a laptop that large...especially with all my camera gear. The 15" fits perfect in my bags with my gear...hehe
Id say the iBook will be a a MacBook and the powerbook will be the MacBook Pro.
But damn if it's not packin some power according to those specs.
GeoS - from what I understand the Centrino architecture is based around saving power and wireless use, not to be packin power for heavy use like editing and rendering. These are dual core...and made to use less voltage than the previous G chips that IBM produced for Apple. Also, the G5 pretty much melted in the Powerbooks, they never could get them to work right.
So it looks like my Intel Centrino with working time of 4-4.5h on standard batteries will be something unavailible for MacBook Pro users. Am I right?

a lot of things depend on that...never seen a laptop with a dual core intel before. This could be some totally new system that doesnt suck up a while lot of voltage, and mac paid the right price tag to keep it to themselves
Maybe when there is a 12". And than we kick of MacOS and run Linux on it :P
The looks of the laptop are real good.

I'm with you on the size thing...but I do EVERYTHING with my 17" powerbook.
Multimedia, video, photo, etc., etc. The big screen is invaluable for me. 'sides...I'm a big guy. I can lift it. ;-)
Two things I'm way excited about with these besides the suppsed 4x speed boost. A) the 67% brighter screens. B) (and more importantly) the 256 MB video card!!!!!
....droooolll.... slurp... yummy, yummy.
