Dear all,

Since I cannot post in the 101 forum I will announce my Pixelpost Tutorial here:

http://pixelpost.hakstege.net

I wrote this tutorial for the newbies among us (like I am/was).

I hope some people take advantage of this step-by-step installation.

Good luck and hold on!

The Category and Uploads page isn't displaying correctly. Screenshots are overlapping with the text.

Tweaks and Tips as well as Results have <![endif]> near the top of the text - not sure what it means.

IE 6.0 on WinXP Pro.

I've only tested this site with Firefox (I told you I am a beginner)

I will have a look at it.

Thanks

Thanks Joe[y]

I realize though that I made a stupid mistake not testing the site in IE

Hope to get it working tomorrow (it's late at this site of the globe)

Update: everything should be OK now. Both IE and Firefox userd should be satisfied now :)

I'm unclear on Step 1 of Preparation.

You suggest editing:

$pixelpost_db_host = "change_me"; // database host, often "localhost"

$pixelpost_db_user = "change_me"; // database user

$pixelpost_db_pass = "change_me"; // database user password

$pixelpost_db_pixelpost = "change_me"; // database

But what am I editing here? What are the changes that I'm making? Am I just putting in my username and password, or is there a drive/destination that I'm entering?

ٰThank you so much for being cooperative with PP users.
Please use this Wiki and add your tutorial there.

This is the wiki that will be used for official PP documentation

Until he can update or post to the Wiki, can anyone answer my question? What do I change there? There isn't much more info in the Wiki...

in step 1, you are entering the username password.

Plus you are entering the name of database that PP will use. you should have created the Database beforehand (as it's stated in the readme.txt file in doc folder of PP)

Do you really want an answer to this or are you pointing at a topic of the tutorial?

if so, do a forum search! There is a lot of information on that here.
The wiki is just starting.

if the later, please be more clear

I really wanted an answer, but I figured it out with help form Rodney at Eleven2 and the guide posted by Alexandra.

I will be glad to contribute to a manual. It is a good application, and I believe more people will use it if it has an easy-to-use deployment. I am a photographer, not a programmer. My willingness to learn how to do this is higher than that of my friends and colleagues. The part that has the most concerned right now is how to write HTML for my About page, and things like that.

Like I stated on the tutorail:

"Before posting a problem please try the search function first. Most of the problems you will encounter are discussed already."

did you submit the tutorial as an external link? I think it would be better to add content as well. wiki is going to be a knowledge-base for PP.

that's a good tutorial you have put up there Cameron. Now I just have to figure out how to automatically resize those huge images.
