1.5 - not sure if showing simple template

I'm probably going to get a few well ripened vegetables tossed at me for this question...

Is the 'light' template in 1.4.3 and the 'simple' template in 1.5 almost the same?

I can't see a difference after installing 1.5 over top of 1.4.3 and I get the feeling that simple should look just a bit different. Heck - can someone just look at my site for a second and tell me which template is being used?

When I go to switch it in Admin - I see this list:

simple
simple
pixelpost-light_old
pixelpost-dark_old

yes - it lists simple twice. I tried renaming the light/dark directories.

Plan B is to delete it all and reinstall - I haven't really uploaded anything major to it yet and I want to move it from a directory up to root so it's always the first page hit on the site.

ok - it's only showing simple twice because it currently shows the currently selected template at the top - not great for usability but that's just how it is for now.

anyway... you've got yourself a bit confused. pixelpost-light and pixelpost-dark are old templates that have nothing to do with 'simple'. the light and dark you are talking about for simple are both the same template - they are just different stylesheets! look at the html code itself - it would be exactly the same whichever style you have selected.

Yeah - I'm definitely confused. My question is which is actually showing on my site. Is the light template the same as simple? Reading your post - it sounds like that's the case - which would explain everything.

I knew the difference between light and dark was just a stylesheet swap - but I didn't know if that was actually the simple template in 1.5. I guess I expected to see some difference between 1.4.3 "light" and 1.5 "simple".

what is 1.4.3 'light'? it was always called simple as far as i can tell. if you have another template folder with the same file in then that didn't come from pixelpost.

Ok - that confirms it for me then. They're one and the same.

I'm not intentionally trying to be confusing... :-)

The reason it even bothered me was that after reading several posts it seemed that the default layout for 1.5 differed from the default layout for 1.4.3 - and it didn't when I installed it. I just thought something wasn't working.

nope - the template included with 1.5 is absolutely identical to 1.4x - perhaps we'll release some new templates with the final release but no promises! users templates are much more fun anyway! :D

there is a template called "simple"
and there are templates "pixelpost-dark" and "pixelpost-light"
the template "simple" can switch CSS

but all this is not meant to throw everything into one pot and mix it..
just have a look into your template-directory and control which template is activated in your blog and everything is simple and clear

as we germans say: "klar wie Kloß-Brühe" --> "clear as dumpling bouillon" ;=)
