View Full Version : Error uploading - Blog usually works fine

I get the ERROR message when trying to upload a photo. I'm running v1.4.3 and this happened about 2 weeks ago but seemed to just start working again.

I've searched the forum and nothing seems to help. I did try the 1.5 beta upgrade but it completely messed up my archives so I reinstalled 1.4.3.

Does this sound like a server problem. I find it very strange that after all this time of a perfectly working blog it starts to play up like this.

I'm just not sure what to do. The ISP just keep asking me what software I'm using and when I tell themm pixelpost they can't really help. They just say that the server is working fine and my domain is working fines as far as they are concerned.

Frustrated

What error are you receiving? what is the filename of the file you're trying to upload? does it have any special characters in it?

Hi

I managed to sort this out and it may be off interest to other users with the same issues.

The permissions on the images folder appeared correct at CHMOD 777 and pixelpost reports that it can write to this folder.

I made a new temporary folder in the same directory and then moved all the image files to that folder. I then deleted the images folder and renamed this new folder 'images' and re set the CHMOD to 777.

Hey presto it worked and is back to normal. I'm not an expert (a complete novice) but it seems that the images folder had become unwritable - corrupt ???

I would be interested to know if anyone has any ideas about why this might have happened.

It looks like server issue. Maybe your ISP was playing with new settings and so on.
Did you check which user and group was owner of /images dir before you del it and after you made new one??

Glad you got it working again.

I just had exact same problem, but I simply changed the folder access rights and changed it back again, but it really got me worried at first.

sorry for digging this up but i'm having this problem again ...

I did what John did, still getting errors ... i can write to the image folder via ftp with no problem, when i check the owner and group of the folder, it says nothing under there.

Anyone know what might gone wrong???

Try to set chmod 777 on this folders and all should be fine.

PS You can try to set group and user. Anyway the best solution will be to talk with your ISP help.

How do you call your images? Imagenames with special characters are somethimes the problem.
