centered square thumbs?

I am total rookie with this stuff so forgive me for rookie type questions here... I just got 1.4.3 downloaded and got a few images uploaded, and i noticed the square thumbnails were not centered from the original image? Is there a way to set this up?

Also, what is the best way to get a line of thumbs along the bottom of the page that shows all the time? Edit the skin? Or is there another skin out there with it in?

1. Use an addon (crop12 or macromedia flash version) and crop it manually.

2. Use tag for it - put it in your template and it should work.
