Hello,

I went to log into my admin page at my blog tonight and it sent me to the install page. So I tried to log into my blog itself, and it says "coming soon, not installed yet".

I have been using PP for my blog for 9-10 months, and I am currently using 1.4.1. I was able to log in this morning, but tonight I can not. I logged into my control panel through my hosting service and looked to see if my files are there, and they all seem to be there.

As I have about 150 photos posted, I really do not want to start all over again so if anyone has any suggestions, please let me know.

Thanks in advance,
SirBaldMan

Definitely a what-has-changed question.

If you have not touched anything (ie what did you do this morning) then I would be contacting the hosting service to see if maybe they have performed any "upgrades".

My son and I looked at the data base and the files, but we have not discovered anything amiss. My son, who does programming and also is the reseller for my hosting provider will look into it further and be in contact with the provider to see if they made changes.

I will post once we find the solution. Hopefully we can restore it to where it was on Sunday, or if I need to, I will start all over again, with the latest version of PP. Either way, I will let you kind folks know what the out come is going to be.

A couple of times I tried the link to my photoblog hoping that it would magically reappear, only to be disappointed. But having patience, being persistant pays off. I tried again a short time ago and the blog is there!! I called my son to see if he did anything and he had just gotten home from work and had done nothing.

Now that it is working, I backed up the blog files and the database from the server. This weekend I will update to 1.4.3, and when 1.5 becomes released, I will upgrade to that.

All this tells me is that I need to be more vigilant concerning the maintenance of my website by doing backups and keeping PP updated.

Thanks so much for the help offered here, it is appreciated very much.

1.5 RC1 is right around the corner, you may want to delay just a few more days before going through all the trouble, although we might even have it packaged for the weekend...

Okay, great, thank you. Good idea. I do have a busy weekend ahead of me, so I may just wait until next weekend. That will give me more time to shoot some photos!!!!!!

I am still experiencing this problem with my hosting even after upgrading to 1.5RC1. It really has nothing to do with PP, but someone with experience with hosting and data bases may be able to validate what my hosting service "thinks" is the problem.

First of all, I buy the hosting from my son, he is a reseller for iPowerWeb, and he got me a decent price on hosting. Anyways I go through him for supprt issues.

The last time I had this issue, the tech inform my son that he thinks that problem lies with communcations with the MySQL server and the problem is that my domain name has a -(dash) in it.

Part of me wants to think they are trying to blow smoke as I have had PP installed using this domain since last summer. A small part of me thinks maybe they are right. I hope not, it would really be a hassle to change my domain name.

Any thoughts? I am experiencing the issue right now.

I am not sure if you want my hosting info or what I use for my PP admin? My PP admin is kinda usless right now as when I go to that page it wants me to install PP.

FTP access + DB access (i.e. phpMyAdmin) + pixelpost access can give us enough to solve your problem.

I want to take a moment and thank GeoS for taking the time to look at my site and finding the problem. It is efforts like this by the members of the development team, and the rest of the members here that make PixelPost the best photo blog script by far and it gives this forum a real sense of community that is getting to be so rare on the internet.

BTW, my problem, as GeoS discovered, I was using the incorrect username for my database. How it could work most of the time is beyond me. The first eight characters were correct, but there were five more characters in the user name.

Thanks again for all the help!

Today, I was logged into my admin page, showing a friend at work the nifty things I can do with PP, then I started getting error messages at the top of the admin page. This is what they look like:

Warning: mysql_fetch_array(): supplied argument is not a valid MySQL result resource in /home/depthof-/public_html/PhotoFlog/includes/functions.php on line 339

Could someone enlighten me as what the error messages are saying?

take away all addons
check if it is ok
add one addon after the other until you find the one which causes this problem

did you rename some addons just to have them de-activated?
that could be the reason.. if you did so, delete these files from the addon folder

Well, right now I can not log into my admin page, it wants me to install PP. The site was running. I had been running fine since GeoS looked at it the other day.

I logged into my provider's control panel, and I tried to get into the DB admin page. I think my host has some serious problems with connectivity to the MySQL server.

if it's asking you to install again then this means your database isn't there anymore or can't be seen - you're right - your host must be having serious mysql issues.

Sometimes I think I want to shoot my hosting service. My site is back up, and I did nothing to make it work again. If I was not getting a deal buying the hosting through my son (I get his reseller discount) along with 10gig of storage with 250gig of bandwidth a month, I would be looking somewhere else. I guess I get what I pay for.

This is what my hosting service has told me "It looks like the database you are using uses INNODB type tables. As part of server optimization done by our admins this was dissabled. I corrected this so that your databases will run correctly."

If anyone else is using iPowerWeb for their hosting you might want to be aware of this.

glad, that it is resolved now!

what the hell are you doing with 1ogig storage and 250 gig bandwith? You have this traffic? You have so many data?

I like these offers but it seems hard to fill the storage

but thanks for the info with INNODB, you should enter that to our wiki, what you think of that?

have a nice day

yeah. the coolest thing anybody could do with things like this is add to our wiki - it's save us soo sooo soooo much time. that would be great if you could take the time. thanks.
