i'm new to pixelpost and have been playing around with it over the last week. i started with version 1.4.x and just recently updated to the latest beta version (1.5.2 i think). all i have done so far is start to create my own theme based off of the simple theme. my photoblog works perfect in safari(mac), firefox(mac), and firefox(windows) BUT i just noticed a problem with IE.
my site is http://www.suffocate.us - when you i go to that link in IE i have 2 problems.
the first is that in IE the image on the first page is not displaying(showing up as a missing image with the white box with red 'X')... BUT if you add "/index.php" to the URL: http://www.suffocate.us/index.php the image shows up.
the second problem, which is a huge problem, is that in IE when you click on the about link or any of the navigation links (the previous and next links or the photo itself) the page starts to load the new page and then just stops on a white page. it doesn't seem to be loading the new page. the only way to get it to load the new page is to hit refresh and then the new page/photo with load.
can you guys test out my site in IE and let me know if you also have these problems? and if you do is there a fix for what's happening? if not can i downgrade back to version 1.4.x until version 1.5 officially comes out?
thanks for your time.

first will be that you validate your page, validate HTML and CSS
then you can try to downgrade the problem
otherwise you have no real chance
as long as your code is not validated, you have no clue where to start to find the errors
I tried to load your page, but there is a database error so I cannot help
by the way, I am sure you have Pixelpost 1.5.1 ;=)

I was just at your site, seems to be a DB problem as this was the message displayed:
PIXELPOST
Authentic Photoblog Flavour
Welcome to a Pixelpost Photoblog!
Clearly this photoblog is not functional at the moment.
Visitors:
Come back later! Everything's gonna be fine.
Error Message:
Connect DB Error: Can't connect to MySQL server on 'photodb.suffocate.us' (4) Cause #2
Possible Causes:
The most possible cause is that the photoblog is not installed yet. If you are the administrator of this photoblog, follow the installation instructions and browse to the admin page.
There might be a database connection problem that prevent this website to work properly. This can be caused by wrong db configuration in the admin side (file: includes/pixelpost.php) or the MySQL server might not reponding to Pixelpost's requests. Make sure that you have followed installation procedure in setting up database connection for Pixelpost.
If the problem is from server's side, mostly it would be resolved in few secods. Be patient. Contact your host administrator or visit pixelpost support forum if problem persists.
For further information and help visit Pixelpost's support forum.
I am running IE6, fully updated on a fully updated XP Pro machine.
1) Template looks fine: http://validator.w3.org/check?verbose=1&uri=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.suffocate.us%2F
2) Please check if you uploaded all files and without any error
3) Please remove additional addons and then check if all is working OK
With IE 6.0 on win2000sp4 only main page is loading.
PS I've moved this topic because it isnt real PP bug.

you're right, for some reason i thought it said 1.5.2 but i just checked the admin again and it says 1.5beta.
i think the reason why you might have gotten a DB error is because i was using PHP 5.1.2 when the problems with IE were happening but the admin 'general info' page was saying i was using 4.4.2 which it wasn't. so after i posted here i went back into my hosting admin panel and switched back to PHP version 4.4.2.... so maybe the problem with IE had to do with the fact i was using PHP 5 (but it doesn't explain why the pixelpost admin was saying otherwise).
i'm at home now and i only have a mac so i can't test it out until tomorrow. if any of you have a minute could you let me know if it's working now in IE? thanks

i didn't change anything other then the CSS so it should work. i also haven't added any additional addons yet and haven't had any errors uploading any files.
did you try clicking on the navigation links (next, previous or the photo) to make sure the other pages were loading fine?
thanks, i'm new here so i wasn't sure sure where to post my issue.

i really do think this is a PP 1.5 bug. i just did a clean install of version 1.4.3 and it works as it should in IE. i then uploaded 1.5 and it started to act up again.
the problem is that IE is not always refreshing the page. if you click on the photo it starts to load the next page but doesn't. it shows the URL of the next page in the address bar but doesn't load the page, the only way to load the page is if you hit the refresh button. this also happens when you click on the about link (doesn't seem to be happening when you click on the browse link).
someone else mentioned this problem in the 1.5 bugs forum but the conversation in that thread went off on a complete tangent and nobody has mentioned the problem again:

i agree this is strange but unfortunately. as i'm still seeing no problem with IE on my machine i honestly have no clue what the problem is.
to be honest, i know you're only experiencing this in IE but every one of the symptoms suggests a server error.

no, those other issues i was having with the server and database are resolved.
the problem i was having with version 1.5 was that the page wasn't loading when you clicked on the photo, next, previous or about links. it would start to load the page, show the URL in the address bar but the page would just be white. you had to hit refresh for the page to load. it's like PP is not pushing the new page to IE. in every other browser PP worked fine, it was just IE that would load the pages correctly. this problem was happening on every PC i tested it on.
the reason why you are now seeing no problem is because i have switched back to PP 1.4.3, i'm not experiencing any problems with that version. i used the same database and the same server for both versions which is why i think the problem has to do with version 1.5 and IE.
if you want i can put version 1.5 in another directory so you can try it out yourself.

it's these symptoms which is meant sound like a server issue. sorry i can't help. unless there are other people with the same issue this seems to be a problem only with your install of IE and therefore an IE problem.

On IE 6.0.2800.1106 it bahaves the same. IMHO this is server side problem coresponding to communication with IE, not Pixelpost's (as it forks fine with Firefox).
Ill look on it with Ethereal in few minutes. If I get any idea then Ill post back with it.
First of all I found that all of your sites uses GZIP compression for text based data transmition. It can be the issue. Ill try decompress faulty page in few secs so Ill check if it is that.
