Hey guys,

I am a template designer for most of the time, and I enjoy photography quite a bit. I know nothing about CSS, but thought I would try and make myself a template for my photoblog which I am still tweaking.

http://www.mediasoldier.net/photography/index.php

After about 45 minutes I liked what I had come up with, and decided to name this template Bluebomb. The problem is, I can only really code in HTML. Although CSS is one of the first things on my to-do list when it come to learning new things, I haven't the time to learn right now.

I was wondering if someone here would like to team up with me in developing this template, that would be distributed publicly.

http://www.mediasoldier.net/templates/pixelpost/bluebomb_by_trevor_henry.jpg

That is the template I have worked out, in photoshop. I have the PSD file and could slice it into simple html. I am not sure where to go from there though.

Any help would be much appreciated, aswell as comments and critiques.

Thanks, Trevor Henry.

aren't you a little bit too militaristic?

Blitz, bluebomb, mediasoldier

don't expect any support from my side, I have some prejudices and I do not like this strongmouth-behaviour at all

there is too much aggression in the world, we do not need this

ok. not entirely sure what connie is on about above me ?

anyway.s this is REALLY bizarre. i had an idea for a VERY similar template. i'm not kidding - thing is with my template is they generally are very rough outlines for templates so that people can still add their own touch - this one is a bit too individual for me.

I annotated Trevor Henry's posting, not yours, Joey

no, i understand that. but i don't think Trevor had any intention of evoking that sort of reaction in you.

'bluebomb' is hardly aggressive - just as if you called a supermodel a 'bombshell' - perhaps there is a language barrier here but i'm certain none of the above mentioned phrases are intended in a bad way.

personally mediasoldier is quite a catchy name and i think that's the main reason of choice - perhaps there's a story behind it, i don't know?

anyway, hopefully you understand what i'm saying. i just want to qwell any possible arguments arising from this.

I see absolutely no necessity to use militaristic nicknames etc., the world is full with people who just "play", everything is harmless...

but that is not right

There are things you just do not joke with. I must not name all the victims of agression. There are too many.

i agree that somethings shouldn't be joked about. i also see no need to create conflict from what i think is something rather trivial. i hardly think naming a template bluebomb is making a joke out of victims of agression. i think reading into something so deeply is ridiculous - sorry, just my two cents.

Wow...

Okay, Thanks for the replies Joey..

I too, am not really sure what Connie is on about, but here is a little blurp about my militaristic names.

Blitz: Football play... translates as lightning in German (Since you are from Germany, I supposed you may realize this, other than jumping to the conclusion that I support the killing of other people...) Sorry if I pissed you off with this... It has been my online alias for years.

Bluebomb: It ryhmes? has rhythm, adds 'oomph'. Sorry if this angered you...

Mediasoldier: A soldier is anyone who fights for a cause, add media and the soldier is fighting for media. I am a web designer, artist, and my media forms include graphic design, web design, traditional arts, painting and photography.

Personally, I find your reply rather agressive in itself, and somewhat out of line... If you dont agree with my choice of vocabulary, please PM me, or dont say anything at all.

don't expect any support from my side

I'll take that into consideration next time I post.

On another note, thanks for the tip Joey. I am planning on getting a CSS book soon :)

i've never read one in my life ;)

but i'm sure it would have speeded up my learning process. i find the best way to learn is to unpick other people's websites. for a start look at www.csszengarden.com and check out some of the css there. if you look at enough of it you soon learn.

i'm moving this thread to design and front end code.

Trevor,

You are obviously a creative and talented person. We need more people like you who are willing to work on themes. Please don't let Connie's comments discourage you from helping.

lookin nice...id help too, but the template I am working on has me wanting to throw the monitor across the room! haha...

i'd tone down the blue a little, looks nice with the green against it, but it may distract from other images with not such nice solid colors backing them up

godspeed

familyman" thanks, much appreciated.

blinking8s" thanks for the tip, I totally missed that - and it makes a ton of sense. I am thinking about dropping the color blue, and maybe adding dark yellow/goldish highlights.

Thanks for your input guys :)

Hi Blitz,

I pretty much agree with blinking8s, that blue is a bomb. A bit too harsh for a photoblog. More neutral colors are better for this job, I think.

You have a nice site, by the way. I left a comment on one of your images. Thanks for joining us.
