View Full Version : RSS thumbnails
Hi, I've put my blog on vfxy. My RSS feed was accepted and everything works fine, only my thumbnails on their site are rather small. Other participants have larger thumbnails :-)
How can I change this?
thanks!

if you tell us what "vfxy" is ?
and which size the thumbnails have there?

You'll see that thumbnail size will vary depending on the blog engine/rss feed used

yes, for sure, because each script defines the size of the thumbnails, there is no standard
PP uses the thumbnails which are generated by the script and you can define the size of the thumbnails in your admin / option-section
we have not 2 different sizes for thumbnails, one for the RSS and the rest for archive etc., as our principle is:
KISS (keep it simple, stupid!)
so if you vary the size of the thumbnails in your admin section you will have other image size in RSS as well
Hi Connie thanks. In this case, I've got a new problem: when I change the thumbnail size nothing happens, not in my archive and of course not in vfxy. Same for changing the amount of thumbnails per page. No error message, the change seems to be accepted, but I can refresh and reopen the browser all I want .. nothing changes :-(

hi, please do not forget that changing the size of thumbnails affects new photos!
the thumbnails are created one time, at upload time with the given size from the admin options sections
if you change that size the coming thumbs will have that size
really, it would be too much overload at the server to create thumbnails any time, do you agree?

try clearing your cache. if the standard thumb regenerator isn't working then try this addon:

I've got a question similar to the one originaly posted by ksdv.
I've recently been added to VFXY and had to update my thumbnails as well. I've done that, and gone into each image individually and updated the thumbnail as I wanted them. I did it that way instead of regen thumbnails to keep the exact thumb that I wanted.
Anyways, after doing that when I go to "Browse" on my site they all look good and the same size. However, my RSS feed still has the only thumbnails linked in it instead of the new, resized ones. Click here (http://photos.vfxy.com/viewblog.php?ID=368) to see the issue in action. Click here (http://www.hiimseth.com/index.php?x=rss) to view my RSS.
Anyone know how to fix this or what I need to do to get the rss feed to update?
I think you migh be missing the fact that VFXY actually keeps a copy of the thumbs on their own server. when they grab your RSS feed and find a new image, it gets copied to their server - go to your VFXY page, - right click on a thuimb and you will see it is archived on their server

You are absolutely correct. I did miss that important fact.
Thanks!
