i just wanted to know if someone is interessted in a admin-addon which gives you the posibility to directly download a database-backup of your pp-db. alternatively the backup might be sent to your admin e-mail.
yes i know backupping databases is also possible with phpmyadmin .. so thats why i ask _before_ i do this time :D

actually I'm using the tool wp-backup to back up the database.
wordpress blog and pp database in one move.
I use phpmyadmin, but a database-backup addon maybe a nice tool.
Voted yes! :-)

You know, I sometimes avoid PHPMyAdmin just because cpanel wants to open like three new windows before I can do anything with it. Silly and preventable, I know, but I'd appreciate being able to do it from PP's admin page.

database backup is only one half of the story: database + photos is necessary..
I once wrote an admin-addon which sends the newest picture + the generated thumbnail to admin-email
but I used an external classes for that and it was a big mess at all
then I had no more time to continue on that
I also planned to integrate a database backup in that Addon
so I see there are some related souls around here ;=)
I would prefer this:
for the configuration, select boxes:
[] do you want image + thumbnail mailed to you after every upload?
[] do you want the database-backup-files stored at the server
[] do you want the database-backup-files sent by email to your admin email?
plus a push button:
[backup now] - to run a backup of the Pixelpost tables now (creating the complete SQL and send it zipped to the admin email )
I think something like this makes sense

I think that it would definitely make sense. It would be nice (from my point of view) if the database could be backupped into a specified directory. Then it is included in the automatic backup of my provider. It would also be nice to have the possibility to use the backup-addon to play back a backup from the file. And maybe it is interesting for some people to backup the complete blog.

People shouldn't be held back from backing their DBs up without this add-on. I followed the Wiki instructions and it was one of the easiest PP processes I've been through. Connie's right, though. You'd better have the images (and thumbs) files backed up, too.
Just wanted to put my experience out there...do not be intimidated! :)
