comment emails

Hi, I have been running pixelpost (1.4.2) since September last year. All this time, I have never recieved emails when comments are added. It never seemed to work, even though I had this feature enabled.

However, a couple of days ago, an email arrived in my inbox informing me a comment had been placed on my photoblog - spam, to be precise. Since then I have recieved about 15 emails (of which only one wasnt spam - I dont get many comments).

My questions are:
1. Why has the email feature suddenly started working for me ( I did attempt to get it working about 3 months ago - but no luck)?
2. Why does is seem that the email feature working has coicided with a dramatic increase in spam? Its like they are related?

Anyway, I guess the answer is to upgrade to 1.5. :) But if anyone has some thoughts how the above could happen, it'd be appreciated.

if you're experiencing the same problems after upgrading to 1.5 come back to this thread - we have further weapons ;)

Done. Upgrade to v1.5 successful with zero issues.

Now, lets see how the spam/comments go.

Btw, I use the pixelpost image link (pixelpost-1.4.gif) at the footer of all my pages. Is there a 1.5 version ? Can't seem to find one.

we removed them a long time ago because we're not interested in generating publicity for pixelpost like that - it makes the package that little bit more bulky and anyway, we get plenty of interest through word of mouth anyway.
