View Full Version : Slow Image Upload - Why?

Hi,

I am new to pixelpost, so it might be something I am doing wrong. I have installed PP as per the instructions, everything is working correctly but....

On the Post a New Image page, when I upload a new photo it takes 30 to 60 seconds to upload a photo? Is this correct? It seems an awful long wait just to upload one image. All my photos are small (100K max (all sized 400x300)). I've got over 300 to upload and at that speed it's going to take ages?

Is there a reason why it is so slow? {I run other web sites and uploading images etc, does not take that long}.

Is there a batch uploader for pixelpost? {I have searched the v1 (old site) for an addon for this, but could not find one}

Any help would be much appreciated.

Cheers
Mike

I may have answered my own question - I discovered under the addons section "Pixelpost Copy Folder Contents (copy_folder - version 1.0) - status: ON", and gave it a tryout and successfully uploaded 88 images in about 3 minutes...

the only reason why posts might take a while normally is that the pinging services (which are optional by the way - have a look in your addons page) are taking a while to respond.

trun off the ping addon from addons page. Pinging several services might slow down the upload.

Mike,

there is a batch uploader as well

upload all your photos to a folder at your webspace
go to "AddOns, Copyfolder"
enter the folder where the photos are sitting and check the options (EXIF or other date)

after that, all images will be uploaded in a batch and the thumbs will be created
you might then edit the image titles etc. in the image-edit-section

enjoy Pixelpost!

Thanks Connie,

I actually found the batch uploader by chance, and have since uploaded 180 images, and now need to rename the headers...

But thats for the tip.
