2 questions for newbie

1) How do I update the information under "About"? It currently says default stuff that is meant to be edited. Please try to be specific about the instructions because I'm not 'technologically advanced'.

2) Currently, to view my new photoblog I need to go to "www.mucig.com/pixelpost". How do I make it so that it is only "www.mucig.com"? Can this be done through PP or does it have to be done through my host? Again, please over explain...

1) just edit the file about_template.html in your template folder.
your_host/templates/your_template/about_template.html

2) just move all the files to the root via ftp or your host, pp cannot do this.

Hi, just to add to jdleung's reply:

1) In your case, that would be the "about_template.html" in the "simple" template folder. You can edit this file with notepad or an html editor, then overwrite the one that currently exists on your host with the edited one, via ftp, or your cpanel file manager (for example).

on a separate note, you might want to look into compressing your images a bit more before uploading them--i think 400+kb per image is still kinda heavy, especially for any non-broadband visitors you might have ...Nice photo though :)

Thanks for the help... I transferred it over okay but had problems with the "images" folder. No problem though as I just created a new folder and restarted everything. (the site is new so its not hard to start over again).

2 more questions though:

i) What is the recommended WYSIWYG web site editor for editing about_template.html? Are there free ones out there? I used MS Word to test it but I don't really like it.

1) notepad with windows = the BEST (i use dreamweaver.. that costs)

2) between 70 and 150

there are also some freeware wysiwig editors out there, be sure they do write UNICODE!

all our files should be in UNICODE format (without BOM)

2) All depend from quality of your images. If you are really good and want to show only the best quality it can be even near 200 KB or more.
