View Full Version : Changing the numbering of posts in PP

Once upon a time I had a photoblog that used MT, but for many reasons I decided to switch to PP. I once wanted to upload all my posts from the older MT site, and I used the "Import from Movable Type" addon. It worked swimmingly, but I then decided that I did not want all those old posts and wanted to start from scratch. The problem now is that PP now thinks I posted over 600 times, and has continued numbering the posts from the point where I deleted the older MT imports. I would like to know if there is a way to reset this counter and get the number chronology back to normal.
Thanks in advance!

Alex,
the images are not numbered, the "Numbers" which you see are IDs
every image needs an ID
the ID is protocolled in a mysql table
of course you could edit that table, but I do not recommend it
another thing would be to re-install with different table-prefixes into another folder at your server and then loading the images into the new copyfolder with the addon
all these suggestions take time, I know
but what is bothering you? I have 541 active images in my PP, but the ID is up to 609 because I deleted some...

Thanks for the reply Connie -- I don't know why it bothers me, perhaps it's just me :).
Those options sound fairly complicated, I will probably leave it alone then. I was hoping it was an easier "fix."
Thanks again.

you can do it on your _pixelpost table via the operations panel but it can only really cause problems.
