cant set permission to 777

I can´t set the permission to the folder ´images´ and the folder ´thumbnails´

I get the message: could not change perms on images.

Is it my hosters fault or whos?

Look who is the owner of the folder "images", you may have changed this so you cannot change the rights of the folder.
