did you set the right directory attributes for the images and the thumbnail folder?

you will see this in the information panel (writeable...)

Yes, I checked that, and both are 777, and show as writeable.

could you try to find out if your hoster limited the rights for copying files between folders, for moving files?

because we already had the situation that everything seemed to be ok, but the uploaded image which is in a tempory folder first is moved to the image folder etc. and this was not allowed by the hoster...

because in the moment I see no other point

Hi there...I'm having precisely the same problem with my install. I've followed all of the troubleshooting steps listed here with no luck. I'm also hosted by Dreamhost. Same version of MySQL, GD is installed.

My install is at http://photoblog.silvergull.net/
Image path is http://photoblog.silvergull.net/images/02-03-05a.jpg (though this is irrelevant since the image doesn't upload due to the error)

I have changed the permissions on the images and thumbnails folders. Any other advice for me?

Many thanks,
Silvergull

I am wondering: why do I find information at your place and you do not see it????

I went to dreamhost.com
I looked for support
I found a knowledge base
I looked for CGI,PHP,Databases

and what did I find??

The Extra Web Security option (you see it when adding a new domain or editing the web settings for an existing domain) enables the use of a special security module for your website.

Many common attacks that can compromise your website will be blocked by this option. We cannot guarantee that all attacks will be blocked but we will do our best to ensure the most common known attacks will be prevented.

A few specific web applications do not work properly with this option enabled, but most sites will work normally (but with extra security!). At this time, it appears that phpstats, some PHP-based BitTorrent trackers,

and possibly some binary image upload scripts may not work.

Solid components do not currently work when you have the extra security turned on. No other known problems exist.

FYI: checking this box enables the mod_security apache module on your domain.

why don't you find it? You are the users, the clients of this hoster

I lock this posting as we cannot do anything on this, it is up to you to switch off this module or to change the hoster

but this problem will be added to the FAQ
