I access the admin section of my pixelpost photoblog using my Treo 650 and using the Blazer 4.0 browser or the latest version of Xiino browser.
The "browse" image button does not show up inthese browsers, perhaps because they aren't IE or firefox.
Has anyone been successful using a browser on their pda (OS 5.0)?
Or is there anyway to edit the admin.php file?
Thanks!

Nope, there is nothing to edit in the index.php as this is not the environment where PP is developed and tested for

well this does not depend from the browser as these functionalities are not browserspecific or client-side, they are server-side
but I am sure that PP was written without PDA in mind, I am not sure if somebody managed this, so you might find somebody who has a hint for you but I never read about this here in the forum as far as I can remember
good luck

I too was interested in PP for use with a PDA, specifically my Treo 650. Will keep an eye out for solutions.

well maybe to write something for some of these handy gimmicks you need to have these gimmicks, right?
I am pretty sure that a well meant donation to the developers could push the process of development, or as we Germans say, the appetite comes when eating!
this is a joke, but I am pretty sure this topic has not the same high priority as the bug fixing which starts in the moment

Its not really complex...it would require the template to be totally redesigned and a few code changes. Ive made sites before that had PDA versions, like you would go to pda.thesitenamehere.com and it would read the resolution off the viewer and direct it to the pda css sheet ect...

I dont know much about PDA models at all...but the newer modesl should be pretty cake to make this work for.

i'd gladly help out with a lil' donation! :D
so as far as I can see there'd be two issues..
1.) creating an admin page that allows all the "buttons" to show up (on my 650, everything except the "browse image" shows up. perhaps it can be a duplicate admin page specifically designed for pda access that runs along side the normal admin page
2.) making the "photoblog" itself pda friendly
I tried downloading splashblog or something and some other pda blog programs but I couldn't get em to work for pixelpost as they seem to have only built in support for a few programs

please my friends: explain one thing to me:
as I know the displays of PDAs are very small (I use them since my first PALM Pilot, now a Pocket PC)
why on earth do you want to present photos, pictures on such a small screen?
I see so often at photoblogs that people post photos which are too big for a 17" monitor and you want to see it on a PDA screen?
help me to understand that

Reason: :)) it's very neat to show your friends you latest photos on your pda.

my purpose is not so much to show people my pics on the photoblog with the pda itself, but instead to be able to upload pics my pda's pics to a blog, or to separately, update digital pics to the regular photoblog...

pretty much, web access via PDA browsers is fairly popular amongst the business world, also a lot of college students browse the web on them (so I have noticed) and many websites do offer PDA access for research material.
My statistics have never logged a PDA on my site, I still ahere to 800x600 standards though but with the next version will update to a 1024x768 viewer base that makes up over 99% of my traffic.

I wonder if "extra" code could be built into the admin interface or index.php file to place along side the "Browse" button (used for finding images files in local computer file directory) another button for those desiring a way to upload image files from their PDA's.
So basically, in the admin page interface you'd see the normal Browswe button, and then another one next to it marked something like "Browse PDA Files" This way, perhaps (disclaimer: i don't know what Im talking about) there'd be no need for a separate script to recognize the pda browser type and have new instructions written for it.
Everything else on the current admin page now works from my pda (upload button, categories, etc)...the only thing that doesn't is the "Browse" button to identify the correct image.
btw (i use XIINO and Blazer 4.0)

there are too many pda specs to adhere to...many models use different software ect, uploading from a PDA would have to be a specific hack for that line of software it uses and failry difficult to configure. Its highly unlikely that this will be a build in feature...

many newer pda's run on a MS based OS, i doubt it would be too too difficult to do, but since I dont own one, I wouldnt know where to tell you to start. Ive dev websites that display on then but never editable from...
