Adding a Category Dropdown Help

Can anyone point me to the documentation on adding a category dropdown to template. I've added it to relaxation and it works except that it wipes out the page numbers at the bottom of the archive.

just add what you need

<CATEGORY_LINKS_AS_LIST> || Category links as a text list for default PP's archive page
<CATEGORY_LINKS_AS_LIST_PAGED> || Category links as a text list for page-by-page archive
<BROWSE_MONTHLY_ARCHIVE_PAGED> || Monthly drop box for default PP's archive page
<BROWSE_MONTHLY_ARCHIVE_AS_LINK_PAGED> || Monthly drop box for page-by-page archive
<BROWSE_CATEGORIES_PAGED> || Category drop box for page-by-page archive

My problem is not adding the code, i did. The problem is that when you use the dropdown the page numbers at the bottom of the page no longer work. I am using both a category dropdown as well as the default category list.

The list works perfectly with or without the dropdown.
The dropdown allows selections but does not display the page numbers.
