View Full Version : 235 Skin v.3
ame235
07-27-2006, 07:37 AM
My new template is under developpement..
235v3 is visible on http://www.ame235.com
The specs are:
> reflection under the photo showed (a very cool scriptalicious mod by Wollzelle)
> Good olde moo.fx acordion script
> lots more to come...
> Would be happy to add any cool idea you could give!
And, most of all, this time i'll try (if i have time) not ot forget to validate the code before posting...
(235v2 was much, much, better than 235v1 but still got lacks)
I will release A.S.A.P. ;)

the arrow seems a little big, I would like to use it out of the image.
it seems there is a reflected image, how can do it? will it slow the speed?
ame235
07-27-2006, 09:28 AM
Yup, the reflection is made thanks to reflect script. scriptalicious addon....
will be packed with the template.
May slow down a bit...
design isn't finished, arrows are too big indeed ;)
Really nice template and cool shots :)

excellent! I can't wait until it's ready for download... :)

Ok the skin is going better.
- Removed moo.fx part, as i needed the whole scriptalicious scripts for the reflection effect..
- The reflection code may slow down, but it's really boring only on first visit.
- Added (still very early dev stage) the styleswitcher script, to change active stylesheet as in the 'simple' template that comes with PP
Not tried to resolve yet, but i have a bug on IE with the main img, as i show comments and hide them the image does not come back to original position but 5px on the right instead... If anybody has the answer..please!!
Maybe i can release before tomorrow: sunday 30. (holidays begin that day till september...Algarve here i come!)
jor133d the nice arrow rollover effect is available in the 235skin v2 (235skinv1 had bugs with IE)
feel free to reuse it, but notice it has been taken from lightbox2!! so leave credits ;)

Very oryginal design, fresh and nice looking.

unfortunately the arrow show to the right even if there is no "next" image
this is misleading...
but very interesting approach!
ame235
07-30-2006, 02:01 PM
that is an internal problem of pixelpost connie,
it has nothing to do with the template.
misleading or not.
BTW, as i have to go in holiday so the template releasing is going to be september...
switching back to 235 skinv2!
till there, have nice holidays!

How do you incorporate moo.fx into pixelpost? Is it implemented in the templates section or in the actual index.php? thanks in advance.

How do you incorporate moo.fx into pixelpost? Is it implemented in the templates section or in the actual index.php? thanks in advance.
In the themplate file..obviously. moo.fx are just some js files...loaded in the header.
BTW, as said before, these will be deleted on v.3 as i need the whole scriptalicious library to be loaded for the reflection:
That would be nonsense to load 2 same things!
the v.3 is still under construction, not visible as i am in holidays for the moment (came back from south Portugal, going to south Italy on 23th august..)
Does someone know how to display my pixelpost website with a specific template without setting it for default template?
something like www.ame235.com/index.php?template=235skinv3
thnx!
We can think about some hack for template demo mode.

Hey, nice work!
But the most of all I like the arrows, to navigate trough photos. Could you please also release as an addon, I can't fix it on my own ;$
Kind Regards, Maurits!

i thin the BG takes away from the photos...id vote for plain or a gradient, slightly smaller arrows, the pink on the arrows doesnt match the header

Hey, I just redesigned my photoblog based on the ame235 skin. It's still in progress as I started the redesign today. Just wanted some feedback. http://www.yeedesign.net/darkphoenix/index.php?showimage=257
Also, I have several images uploaded to be automatically displayed each day. But for some reason, one of the photos that are not supposed to be displayed yet is showing up. But when you click on the image, it says "Coming soon! nothing to show. no images to show here." Does anyone know why these images that are set to be displayed at a future date are showing up? Did I mess up some of the code?
Thanks,
As admin (logged in to admin console) you can see images from future, as normal user - not.

I redesigned my photoblog too, based on the ame235 template, very simple and practical I think:

I like it, CyberGus. Very clean and attractive, and it matches the style of your photos quite nicely.
I'm just starting out with Pixelpost (and webdesign, for that matter!), so I haven't adjusted/designed my photoblog. But from the looks of it you were able to do some great things with that template...wish I had the coding skills to get right under the hood.:rolleyes:

ok guys, not to be egocentric...BUT, let's talk about ME!!!!
;P
I made some progress with v3 wich is visible on ame235.com (http://www.ame235.com).
What goes on?
I did some cleaning in css, js, and quite all my code -lol
made more grafics..but still the minimum needed:
why? because the scripts already make a slow load (so less is better)
I did notice that many many people love to mod my v2 template so i decided to make them happy and create a template system for the template LOL.
Kidding: That was already possible in simple skin that comes with pixelpost (styleswitcher)
The thing is that the skin has to be released but it has to be tested before.
i did testing on Firefox Mac and pc, and IE 6 Pc.
can you guys tell me about any bugs you can find?
One of these is that reflections is 4-5px under picture on firefox and not on Ie, and i cannot fix that...if anyone knows why...
blinking8s: thnx for advices, modded quite everything you talked about tell me if it fits ;)

I really like the style of this template, would be nice if it becomes public
to ame235 :
Disclaimer: this is personal opinion and in no way a judgement. I don't want to flame anybody or be flamed. So here goes...
I looked at your site, and being a simplicity lover (just look at my site), I find it has a problem. A photoblog by definition is about photos. And blogging is a way to deliver them. I had trouble looking through the pictures because of the distracting background. I think the design is great. But I don't want it to be so great that I look at it more than at the pictures themselves. An inconspicuous design would go further in my head.
I do, however, must say that there are websites whos' design leaves a LOT to be wished for, or simply the default one. Those are not appealing, but I really think that it is a big risk, having this pattern in particular and a too complicated design in general for a photoblog.

I like this template, but I don't know how to use it.
I try as usually with the templates admin, but it didn't work. Could you explain me how to do ? As you guess, i'm not good with manipulating code !
thank you

Any thoughts on how to work around this issue? I'm trying to adapt this theme for my site...
Here's the code:
<div id="menu_browse" style="height: <IMAGE_HEIGHT>px; width: <IMAGE_WIDTH>px;">
<a href="#" id="menu_browse_prev" onclick="document.location = 'index.php?showimage=<IMAGE_PREVIOUS_ID>';"></a>

Hi Ame235
Now I loved v2, and I use a hacked up version of it on my blog. (www.kulayphotography.com/blog) When will your new template be out? I'm particularly interested in the new version of the navigation arrows feature - I like how if there is no next image the "next" arrow doesn't appear. Slick!
So, how much longer to wait!?

Hiya, just a quick note to tell you I have found the way to your magnificent template and am using it right here (http://vollemaan.net). :)
Only thing I really still need to do is to move the "next" icon more to the right and I'm not completely happy with the comment form. Other than that: happy. :)

Hi,
I noticed on your website that you don't have an arrow facing right on your latest photo (the opening photo). I use your template for my photoblog, http://www.parpersson.tk, and the misleading arrow on the first page is something that I would really like to get rid of. How did you solve this problem and is there some code that I could implement in my photoblog?
Thanks for your help and keep up the good work!
Regards
/Pär

Nice one :)
Looks like it makes a bug on your pixelpost...
Link to previous image on most recent pic sends to wrong page...
So it does on all others...
You should modify it slightly in order to work :rolleyes:
replacing
<script type="text/javascript">
var existprev = "<IMAGE_PREVIOUS_ID>";
var existnext = "<IMAGE_NEXT_ID>";
if (existprev != "<IMAGE_ID>"){
document.write('<a href="#" id="menu_browse_prev" onclick="document.location=\'index.php?showimage=<IMAGE_PREVIOUS_SLUG>\';"></a>');
}
if (existnext != "<IMAGE_ID>"){
document.write('<a href="#" id="menu_browse_next" onclick="document.location=\'index.php?showimage=<IMAGE_NEXT_SLUG>\';"></a>');
}
</script></div>
with:
<script type="text/javascript">
var existprev = "<IMAGE_PREVIOUS_ID>";
var existnext = "<IMAGE_NEXT_ID>";
if (existprev != "<IMAGE_ID>"){
document.write('<a href="#" id="menu_browse_prev" onclick="document.location=\'<IMAGE_PREVIOUS_SLUG>\';"></a>');
}
if (existnext != "<IMAGE_ID>"){
document.write('<a href="#" id="menu_browse_next" onclick="document.location=\'<IMAGE_NEXT_SLUG>\';"></a>');
}
</script></div>
Should do the trick...

Well slowlane.net is me - before you get off abusing people, and high and mighty on your soap box. You may want to give people a chance. First thing - found few errors in the code of the available v.2 download so looked at your site for instant fixes. Now I am cleaning up the code to make it XHTML (given just transitional) compliant and still making alterations. If you look at your google analytics you will notice that you may have had all of 2-3 hits from my site as I initially uploaded it before actually looking back at the code and removing such items. I am generally very good at linking back to people and their work, scripts, templates etc..but am not sure I want to point people to your site if you will abuse them before giving them and chance to even get a site up. Even the two photos are from Microsofts samples.
I struggle to see why you are so angry about people using a template - then looking for fixes from your site - given you link back to it at every given opportunity? If you are so obsessive about it, don't put templates up for people to use, and protect for functional directories..so people cant go looking for solutions...
anyways....was small rant...

anyways....was small rant...
This is what i wrote to the forum the 05 dec. about you:
http://www.ame235.com/worldtalk/viewtopic.php?t=39
Looks like this guy is simply modding the template but:
1. The 235skin v4 template is not free to download ! GRRR
2. Credits have to be left.
3. After leaving a comment on his site, he removed comment and modded the template a bit more.
At least he doesn't appear in my stats anymore.
your answer here is from 08 dec.
I'm not complaining about people using 235skinv1, or v2...
I'm complaining about people copying all of my personal website template.
Which i repeat is not free to copy (cauz there is no download !!!!) until i say so. (that's the same for everybody!)
You even replaced the website after my comment with 235skin v2 to avoid problems LOL. I canno't prove it, and whatever: "what for?!"
So you know, i know, point: end of blabla.

if I'm not mistaken, you have to change the value of #menu_browse from relative to absolute.
in your css that is
hmm, thanks but no.. i dont think that is it.. i tried that.. if it is absolute to the window then it does not work when window is resized. i had this working before i combined it with my template and the original mod has this set at relative.

Hello, thanks for the template.
For the accordion effect on comments (moofx?), how can I get it to do the reverse? What I mean is, it is set up to accordion down (open) when clicked on "view comments" or "add a comment". How do I get it to accordion back up (close) by clicking on the same a second time?
Thanks. :)
