breakdown of php tags?

how easy is it to incorporate pixelpost into the look of my site? i would like to know where to find a list of the tags and what they mean, like in wordpress. so i could have a few thumbnails on my index page as well as the rest of my content.. www.mintedmango.com/test.php in one of the columns.

i have managed to merge wordpress into a table on the left with the 'loop' tags etc, it would be great for a link to info or any comments on the tag structure.
