I'm looking for a design similar to this. I've seen the same layout on several sites so I think it is pretty common. Thanks to anyone willing to help me out.

Probably not here in PixelPost land as that site is Movable Type powered...

what is so big difference to the simple-template in the dark version????
try that one

There really isn't. But I would like to have just the dark version instead of the light/dark choice. Is there a way to set it to just dark?

By the way pixelpost is amazing blogging software. Easy to set up, easy to maintain! I love it and will recommend it to everyone...

It's easy to not have a choice...just remove the styleswitcher script and the links, and only include the dark.css in your template. My site is a modified version of the simple template...

forgive my ignorance, but how do I do that?

open image_template.html from within the simple directory. At the top you will see some lines that refer to the stylesheet and alternate stylesheet. Change it so that the regular style sheet line (not alternate) is using dark.css.
Then somewhere in the code you will find links to switch between the two styles...just remove those links. I can't remember where in the code those are found, but you should be able to find them.

take this one, I deleted the necessary code
I renamed image_template.html to image_template.html.txt so I could upload it
just rename it back!

Thanks to both of you. It works great now. I just need to learn to read that so that I might make changes myself soon. I really would like to add one more page. Is there a tutorial on how to do that? I know html pretty good but I noticed that the links to other pages are not in that same format I'm used to.

Also, is it ok to be using dreamweaver 8 to edit the pages?

Ok, I've managed to really mess up the other pages. My site is Joebuddy.com
You can see the main page seems fine. But when you go to the alternate pages everything is out of whack! I tried taking out the option for either light or dark. I replaced it with what was on the first page. That is all I did...

I think I've fixed the issues I was having. If someone could just verify that it looks good on another computer... :)
I'm still wondering how to include one more page to the simple templete though. I would like to call the page tools.html if that helps??

On the browse page, you are using the light.css instead of dark.css.
Other than that, everything looks okay to me.
I'm not sure about adding a new page, since I've never done it myself. Someone else should be able to help you with that though...
@edward: in your template dir put new tool_template.html file which then you can get by going to:

You see I can learn! Thank you much for all your help. I think everything has been fixed now.
Now all seems to work fine :)

I really hate to burst your bubble, because it's great that you got it all the way you want it, and have the tools page working and all that...but now you have an About page that can very easily contain all of the info you put in your tools page. ;)

I know it could, but I'm very picky about placement and I really wanted to put other things in the about section. Trust me though I did consider it.
I would like to get the prev/current/next buttons tigher together soon. But other than that I really like how it all works.
Thanks again for all the help. Now if I can just pass this music test I'll be doing good today!
