now I name it "stockpot", but I don't think it suitable.

I would say in german it is a chinese variant of the "Dampfkochtopf" :=)

ive seen those things down in the ceramics are of the art department at my uni, ill ask around.
potter's clay or something like that?

In Australia they are known as crockpots.

crockpot in the US too...for cooking. In the pottery art stuff they have some different terms

crockpot is more like electric cooker in Chinese.:-)
